NOBS, I did the research for you and UCLA has USC beat by a country mile. UCLA is the hardest public university to get into, and the most stringent guidelines for student athletes of any other college.
What is the hardest Public University to get into?
It’s actually UCLA. UCLA has over 55,000 applicants a year which far exceeds all public or private Universities, while only 16% make the cut. UCLA’s 2010 incoming freshman class had a 4.07GPA which also far exceeds any public University while being in the top 10 of all private schools.
If you don’t live in California, which 19,000+ of the 55,000 applicants did not (which again is the most of all schools) then you have a 1 in 40 chance of getting into UCLA of all out of state applicants. This is also in-line with UCLA’s sports programs which has the highest GPA average for each team in each sport than all public schools and is in the top 5 when included with private schools. UCLA’s 09/10 Men’s Basketball team had 2 players on the Pac-10 academic first team while placing 1 on the second and 1 on the third which is most of all Pac-10 teams.
UCLA’s overall GPA of the Men’s Basketball team was a 3.55GPA. UCLA has the most stringent guidelines for student athletes in the country and they will not recruit any athletes that don’t adhere to those guides lines no matter what unlike many of the top Universities in the country.
