New Management

The Galen Center is now being run on a daily basis by an outside company, Global Spectrum, which means the athletic dept. is no longer in charge of the arena’s operations. The real goal of all this is to increase the number of events at the Galen Center and make more money from the venue.
This week Nickelodeon took over the arena for its Kids’ Choice Awards show, which allowed it to block a lane on Figueroa St. and make traffic a nightmare.

  1. Yeah that is just freaking ridiculous. NOTHING but an emergency (and I suppose the U.S. president) should block lanes around USC. The traffic there is a nightmare to navigate on a daily basis WITHOUT lanes being closed.

  2. Only reason why the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice awards isn’t at UCLA this year is because Pauley Pavilion is under renovation. Typical SUC always being a back up option.

  3. Ridiculous! It’s like we are back at the Sports Arena. What next? Galen is booked and we have to play our games at the Forum or Dominguez Hills?

  4. I’m sure ALL the Galen Founders, who shelled out big dough for seat licenses, will get it in the @$$ AGAIN.

Oh wait, they can BUY preferred seating for the Dali Lama.

  5. The LA Times Festival of Books has moved from UCLA to USC. Typical UCLA — always getting left behind.
