With all the recievers that Lane Kiffin keeps recruiting last year, this year and what looks like next year… are we seeing the possibility he is aiming for a fast paced Hawaii type offense? If not, how is he going to keep all those recievers happy?

A: He might have to adjust the offense if the fullbacks do not develop or if there are any injuries at that position. But I don’t think he will do much to accomodate more receivers. I’m sure there will be some frustrated receivers this season because of playing time. Markeith Ambles and Brice Butler came back and I’m sure both expect to play.

Who do you think is the most important player on the defense for this unit to be vastly improved from last year’s fiasco? Not the best, but the one who really has to step up and have a breakout season to get the defense going.

A: I think Devon Kennard is the key because he is the middle linebacker. Whoever plays that spot is most important but the coaches say it will be Kennard, so he is. Last year was a transition for him to learn the spot, which was not completely fair since he’s been a defensive lineman until the second part of his freshman year.
He should be more comfortable this year. If not, the defense will have a serious concern in its heart.

  1. According to Kennards twitter he is moving back to DE, at least that is what he thinks:
“Next time I touch the field it looks like I’m going to be coming off the edge again… Uhhh ooooo”

  2. He can walk up to the line on either side or end in a blitz-package and the weakside-strongside backers will just close in a bit. The free-safety can do the same. They just need to get into the backfield to the ball carrier and not trip over themselves like the keystone cops!

  3. I think that they’re really hoping that Dawson comes in here as the real deal and adjusts and fits in quickly! He, spelling Galippo, in the middle is going to give us the extra versatility for Kennard to come off the edge,Elephant or SLB whatever..
