Whats your take on commits Kelvin York and Jahleel Pinner, why aren`t they ranked at the recruiting services?

A: I have mixed feelings. With the 15-scholarship limit, I don’t know that USC needs another tailback (York) other than for the fact Ed Orgeron knew him and can say he brought in another recruit. I’d rather have another offensive lineman. I like Pinner because he is big enough (6-0, 230) to play fullback or tailback in college and USC needs versatility with scholarship reductions.

How do you think your relationship with Coach Cruz will go when you openly recommended OSU’s baseball coach to Haden?

A: I’ve spoken to him since he got the job full time and he was fine with me. We’ve had a good relationship since last summer when he replaced the ridiculous Chad Kreuter. I just thought you take a swing for the fences and try and hire the best guy out there before doing anything else.

  1. USC officials have stated that the school will not file a lawsuit… Is there anything stopping a player or his Parents from suing the NCAA? They are the ones being punished for something they had no part of…

  2. “I just thought you take a swing for the fences and try and hire the best guy out there before doing anything else.”

The LA Daily News had a similar approach before hiring you. But all of the monkeys were too busy playing with their poop, so you were hired.

  3. Kelvin York is a juco player who will be a december grad and thus not count against the 15 schol. limit for the 2012 class, but rather the ’11 class. It’s a rather low-risk play on a guy who could provide an alternative to the baster/morgan style at rb.

  4. York had a outstanding 2010 season, is a (5’11″/225 lb.) all-purpose back who could be starting sometime next season as a junior. Pinner hopefully could redshirt, and be a stud at fullback through 2016. But, early commitments don’t mean squat, and USC might only have half of their allotted 15/75 available for 2012.
