Open Forum

I’m sure there are a lot of training camp questions, so I will open a new forum as I finish up the previous one. One question per person please.

  1. Last year the team came out of the tunnel to Muse’s “Uprising”. I think it paled in comparison to the energy and intimidation factor that Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” brought to the stadium during Caesar’s reign. Has there been any discussions about the song changing this year? Who even decides on the song? Considering the selection from last year, I doubt it was the players.

  2. I will be at the USC practice tonight to watch this mediocre team and give my personal report of all the missed tackles, dropped balls, and picks thrown by Barkley…I will be wearing the Dodger shirt, in case you wanna stop by and say hello…NOBS, hint hint.

  3. The O-line is going to be so vital to the success of this year’s offense, I can’t remember it being this crucial in the past 10-12 years. I am wondering if Coach Cregg is a master teacher to take this burden on. Are you seeing some real teaching going on at line practices and seeing the results or just someone yelling and screaming expecting it to all just happen by itself? I have a hunch Kiffin is taking a big chance retaining any line coach in part because that coach doesn’t pose a threat in challenging the head coach on important line issues. We take note on Kiffin doing his thing with the linebackers last year… If Kiffin wants to make a bold move, we know Orgeron will block it if he doesn’t like it… will Cregg?

  4. Before the Pac 10 went to a round robin, USC would regularly get jobbed by having to play in Eugene or Seattle 6 out of 8 years. Is this what’s going to happen in the new Pac 12 schedule? I’ll take my answer off the air…

  5. When will Trogan fans realize that Matt “Pick 6” Barkley is not very good? How many interceptions will he throw this year?

  6. Every time you answer a question about Pat Haden and his dealings with anyone outside of the athletic department, you make a comment along the lines of his not wanting to rock the boat. Do you expect he will ever stand up for USC during his tenure as AD? Is he able to step out of his “deal guy” persona and step into the role of the head of a major athletic program? If the largest source of revenue in the conference can’t say “no” to mid-week football games in downtown Los Angeles, who, exactly, does this person stand up to?

  7. Under Pat Haden’s leadership and Lane Kiffin’s approval do you expect USC to electrify the home crowd wearing all cardinal jerseys and a black helmet with a gold Trojan logo when they play the ruins?

  8. The over/under for SC wins is 7.5. What say you Scotty my boy? Bet the bank on over?

Likewise, the over/under for Ruin wins is 6.5. I am thinking under is a lock. Your thoughts?

  9. What information do you have that would indicate USC will sign any recruits mid-term? It doesn’t make any sense to do so. Anyone they sign mid-term means another has to leave after the ’11 season.

  10. Do you think the NCAA will hand Coach Sunshine his Show Cause Order before or after the Minesota game?

  11. Why did Pat HAden have a clause written in his contract to excuse his wife (Another SC Alum) to not attend certain Mandatory functions? (Please investigate and don’t brush it off) Remember all last year Pat would stand by Dr and Mrs Nikias all by himself.

  12. Do you know any of the conditions set down for Marc Tyler to rejoin the team, such as attend daily AA meetings, take alcohol/drug tests regularly, miss no classes, etc?

  13. Why did Jesse Scroggins not play in the first half of the scrimmage? Is he last on the depth chart or the coaches mad at him?

  14. What’s your take so far on the backup QB? If Kiffin decides to go with a freshman (say Kessler) at backup QB, do you see Scroggins leaving? Or do you see Scroggins stepping up so both freshmen can redshirt? It would be nice to redshirt the freshmen, but with Barkley probably leaving early you’d want the best backup to get playing time to prepare for next year.

  15. Is it a little shocking/worrisome that Barkley continues to be unimpressive and an interception machine at this point in his career?

  16. I don’t mean to be a nuisance, but I was wondering when I’d be able to collect my prize from the earplug contest.

  17. wolfman, the Cadre let out a collective “whattha??” the other day in response to your comment about Kiff marching off the field every day accompanied by a body guard!!

is it one of those state troopers like in the SEC with a big gut and their trooper hat all hitched forward?? or is it a more contemporary plainclothes body guard like the rappers use?

most importantly, why on Earth does Kiff need a body guard at practice?? aren’t the practices more closed than ever? is he going to fire the Agin’ Cajun? we have to know, wolfman! thanks for the Open Forum, wolfman!!

  18. Since SC was not able to use all 25 scholarships for the 2011 class and Steve Dillon freeing up a scholarship, is Kiffin able to use the rest of those scholarships for 2012 as mid yrs and have them count towards 2011? Basically the same thing he did with last yrs class?

  19. Is Jon Gruden on Haden’s short list to replace Kiffin, providing that Gruden won’t be hired again in the NFL. And yes, I believe that Kiffin will be canned in the next 2 years.

  20. Why does Petros’ dad get a free pass for his NCAA violations at his old out of business restaurant? By his own admmission, which I’ve personally heard, he tells recruits about the Cardinal & Gold vs Powder Blue. Just ask Petros or even Johnny Boy.

  21. Scott, would you like to move to England, get a job then get let go from the job so you could be on life long unemployment ( only in Jolly old England ! ) and watch the EPL in person until your eyes got crossed or would leaving Coach Sunshine and covering USC sports be too much to leave behind?
