Coach Kiff is not a great head coach. Seems like he gets out-maneuvered a lot. Some of his calls are puzzling and the 2 point PATs are dumb. Pull that shite when you have everything else working. But the truth is that Kiff and company can flat-out recruit. That’s needed with limited schollies. Let him recruit until we are back to full strength. Then cut him loose.

Closest score for the week….”COUNT SMACKULA” predicted Minny winning by the score of 24-23. Using Kiffy’s way of thinking… (IF…Minny had gotten a couple of close calls going their way, If..the refs hadn’t allowed SUCks “O” linemen to “HOLD” on every play, if….etc.) Minny would be UNDEFEATED today!

Last time I checked, PAC 10 football @ Washington St. didn’t strike fear into the mind of anyone. Minny, Indiana, and Purdue are all members of the Big 10…….BIG DEAL! Preseason rankings for those teams were (drum roll please)…71, 99, and 73. By comparison, Houston was ranked #54. (if Houston were to play “BIG TEN POWERS Minny, Indiana, or Purdue, ANYWHERE, they’d probably be favored despite being from Conference USA).

@oregon111: It was really a good football game until it turned into a track meet. I wouldn’t sweat the loss. LSU has a very physical team. It was brass to accept that match-up in the first place. You’ll still have a nice season.
To say beating Minnesota is a bigger deal than losing to Houston is asinine! In a few games Keenum will be the all time NCAA leader in passing yards and completions…Keenum would have destroyed the SUC secondary and UsC would have gotten killed by Houston. If not for a 32 yard missed field goal and a missed extra point this game would have gone into OT despite horrific tackling by UCLA. The Bruins looked better in defeat than SUC did in winning…FACT!

Of course it’s better to win than lose, but I have to wonder if the Bruins and the Irish go in to their next game thinking if they had five more minutes they would have won … and our Trojans wonder if they had five more minutes we would have lost.
A lot of good points here about the coaching, conditioning and playcalling … I’d be interested in everyone’s thoughts on the team’s confidence and self-belief. They visibly slumped after both the 4th down bad snap and big loss and Minnesota’s 4th and 7 conversion.
DT-89 is spot on. SC football has higher standards than fucla, so I really don’t get the rejoicing by some after such a terrible effort yesterday in the Coliseum. That game against hopelessly outclassed Minnesota should have been a romp.
