A USC spokesperson said there are no plans to sell the “South Division Champions” T-shirts that players wore after Saturday night’s game.
Too bad the Pac-12 does not release the votes for Coach of the Year. Steve Sarkisian said he voted for Lane Kiffin. Jeff Tedford probably voted for his former graduate assistant. Who else? Rick Neuheisel sure didn’t. Kiffin likes Chip Kelly so maybe he got his vote. Dennis Erickson beat USC so he probably didn’t. Mike Riley is the nicest guy in the conference, so it’s 50-50 there. Kiffin and David Shaw probably canceled each other’s votes out.
It probably was pretty close, whatever the final result.
Robert Woods being the only unanimous selection for any school on the all-Pac-12 football team is even more impressive because Lane Kiffin said he is only the second-best receiver at USC.
“Certainly when you’re the UCLA coach, you’d like to play better against USC. I know that. We had our chances, but when you lose in the fashion we did, that’s a difficult pill to swallow,”
— Rick Neuheisel
USC offensive tackle Matt Kalil said he has a “tough decision” to make about his future
“To put my mark on the program like my brother (former center Ryan Kalil) has is definitely something that would be nice,” Kalil said.
Who thinks Lane Kiffin deserved to be Pac-12 coach of the year? Stanford’s David Shaw was selected and lost only one game and beat USC. But Kiffin also dealt with a bowl ban and upset Oregon in Eugene. So it’s a close call.
