Morning Buzz

With Matt Kalil expected to turn pro, that makes sophomore Aundrey Walker the top candidate to start at left tackle. Walker showed glimpses of his athletic ability last season but Lane Kiffin played him less-than-expected because he didn’t think his practice performances matched his game efforts.
Kiffin might wish he played Walker more now.
But it is tough to see anyone else beating Walker out next season. I might give recruit Kyle Murphy of San Clemente a chance . . . if he doesn’t go to Stanford.

  1. So, are you suggesting that it didn’t occur to Kiffin all season that Matt Kalil would likely turn pro at the end of the season?

In reality, the offensive line was considered USC’s achilles heel at the start of the 2011 season. Yet, it was one of the most productive in college football and a team strength by the end of the season. With 4 of 5 returning starters, improving depth (Walker, Hobbi, etc.), several top recruits likely to attend USC and a great position coach (Cregg), it should once again be an area of strength for the next several years.

So very typical of Scott to find negativity where none exists.

  2. “Expected” to go pro? Kalil SAID he was going pro and hired an agent. Not definitive enough for Wolf? Or did he just not get around yet to reading what the real reporters wrote last night?

I hear the sun is expected to rise again tomorrow and Scott Wolf is expected to pen some half-accurate, super-negative post. We shall see…

  3. Geeez Louise!! you thin-skinned trOXans are getting worse and worse!! the wolfman delivers a sweeeet scooop to start off your friday, and all you do is whine and cry because wolfman simply points out a vague possibility that a boy might not choose a scandal ridden team that is in a lousy location, that hasn’t been to a bowl in years, and is facing a potential 7-6 season without khalil and the Pious Passer!!!

poor wolfman, having to coddle and comfort grown men like a roomfull of sqauling babies!! Oh, MERCY NURSE!!!

go to some Vanilla site, ’cause wolfman is dishing out straight tutti-frutti here, you jive turkeys!!!

  4. Everybody is actually pointing out that Kalil is indeed leaving, not that its a slight chance like Wolf posted. And if USC somehow went 7-6 next season, it would still be better than 6-8!

  5. Kyle Murphy to USC! Lock it up. Along with David Banner, Simmons, and Peat! Is this the best o-line class in history? It won’t matter who’s at QB because he aint getting touched.

Speaking of Touched, did Sandusky give a shout out to Chrlize in his book?

  6. O.K. let me get this straight. Matt Kalil is projected to be the second pick in the entire draft, but for some reason he wasn’t a good enough player to be nominated, much less win, the Outland Trophy. Instead, it went to some slug from Alabama. This is just another example of am an SEC/Big 12 agenda that is being pandered by ESPN and their strangle hold on college football. If you viewed the ESPN College Football awards show, you could count on one hand the number of Pac-12 players that were nominated for any of the awards. All of this could have been avoided if Tom “I’m Still in Formaldahide” Hanson would have shown some juevos after the 2008 debacle when USC was passed over for a spot in the NC Game for Florida and Tim “Gods QB” Tebow and Chokelahoma. What Hanson should have done after this latest Pac-10 snub was simply say to the BCS. Bye-Bye, we are out of the BCS once and for all, we are taking our conference and the biggest bowl game there is, the Rose Bowl, and making a deal with the Big-10 for the next ten years. This would have destroyed the BCS once and for all.
Lastly, this is not just a USC opinion, this is a conference opinion. This crap all began in 2001 when Oregon was left out of the NC game in favor of Nebraska, who didn’t even win their side of the Big 12. In 2003 we all know that USC was #1 in BOTH polls, but somehow Chokelahoma was chosen after getting their ass handed to them in the Big 12 Title game. Then in 2008, as was stated before, the BCS did not want USC to play Florida because they knew that USC would have kicked the crap out of the Florida, and they did not want to see little Timmy Tebow cry on the sidelines again.

  7. @Mono: I like your enthusiasm. I think the OL you are referring to is Zach Banner, though. David Banner was a TV character from the 80s who morphed into The Incredible Hulk whenever someone made him really mad.

  8. the kooky reactions of you Nattering Nabobs is so sugary sweeeeeet, its another reason this blog is so much fun!!

it’s very much like being able to go into the zoo and toss firecrackers into the monkey cages and watch them go bananas!!! but “the Man” won’t let you get away with that at the real zoo!! the zookeeper at this “inside southern cal” zoo, El Lobo Macho, just lets the chimps fall where they may!!

    AUUUUUU-WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  9. I think this Bucket guy gets a little frustrated when he cannot stir up the pot as much as wants lol
    Dont try so hard man!

  10. Bucket, this zoo has no keeper.

Brother Scott opened all the cages, and now he just throws hunks of red meat over the wall a few times a day.

  11. I think it’d be safer to say (rather than what sw has indicated) that Walker didn’t play as much simply becuase USC HAD A FRIGGIN’ AA LEFT TACKLE WHO’S A TOP FIVE NFL DRAFT PICK playing the position already! Walker was a freshman…they ALL can’t play every game, i mean, just because HALF the team on the field are underclassmen, EVERY position doesnt need to be fresh off the boat. How bout givin’ Lane some love for putting the best talent on the field regardless of seniority?

  12. Sup y’all? I got my Bowl Game tickets today! Is that awesome or what? Did any of you USC fans get your tickets for your Bowl Game? Ohhhh shit, I forgot!! Sorry. :'(

  13. Seriosly, you’re proud about going to a bowl game…that you’re probably not even really going to? My sister in law and her boyfriend are REALLY going…and they know UCLA is pathetic…at least REALLY be going rather than just come here and act like an idiot.

  14. lbctrOJan, SUC is so awesome with the #1 recruiting class the last decade…cheating like a mother Hubbard un the process and in probation…with all that SUC must have at least 3 or 4 BCS Titles but you only have ONE!! oooops!!! oh sorry, I forgot, you HAD one, you don’t anymore :'( :'( what happened? Got caught cheating? Juuuuuust a little? BUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

  15. RuinSlob, it never ceases to make me smile knowing that SC is under your skin 24/7. Your envy and bitterness toward all things SC is so over the top funny that your comments can only qualify as entertainment to most SC fans. Knowing that you feel compelled to chime in on a half baked SC blog written by Thcotty only makes it funnier! Keep your hate on brother! Your a beauty for SC fans.

  16. @Fredo, it’s my pleasure brotha!! I’m happy to do and bring anything to this forum to my trOJan friends during these most difficult times, AKA sanctions… Kraft Bowl should lots of fun. If y’all happen to see “How Does”, let him know of my seat location Sec. 126 Row N seatls 1-7…I think he wanted to stop by and say hello…of course if his lover NOBS lets him leave their Motel-6 room.

@lbc, you’re really in good mood today man! I like you better like this…please don’t ever join the NOBS gang and become a butt hole like him.
