Questions, Questions

Did Oklahoma State make a case for a split national title with its victory over Stanford? Does LSU deserve consideration for No. 1 votes even if it loses to Alabama?
And what about USC’s ranking? Do the Trojans remain ahead of Oregon in the final AP poll? And should Stanford, with two losses like USC, be below the Trojans?

  1. Stanford beat USC so I’d say that’s a tiebraker if the teams finish with the same number of loses. And they really should have beaten Oklahoma State, if not for a freshman kicker.

Oklahoma should get the #2 ranking after the winner of the NC game.

Lose the NC game and you shouldn’t be considered better than the team that beat you, maybe for the #2 spot but not #1.

btw: classy move by the Cardinal for standing by their kicker, especially by Andrew Luck who shouldered some of the blame even though he had no reason to.

  2. The game was in stanford’s hands and their redshirt-freshman kicker choked at the end of the game. If you watched the game Stanford was in control of the game all the way thru. It was the Stanford team vs. Blackmon the OSU reciever who Stanford’s DBs & safeties couldn’t stop! You wonder what would have happened if the SC-Stanford game hadn’t ended the way it did…

  3. You’re kidding right? A share of the Natty? OSU was handled by the Furd and would’ve/could’ve/should’ve lost if not for a total choke job by the kicker. Shaw calls too many runs in my opinion – especially with the best quarterback in the country behind center. At some point, the Cow Pokes keyed on the run and it cost Stanford valuable yards in overtime. I also thought he was really conservative at the end of the game, especially with a kicker who couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn.

Oh well. These games really are just exhibitions and are for all intents and purposes meaningless. When the cartel finally gives us a playoff like they do for every other sport and every other level of football, these games will actually have meaning.

  4. I say, USC no less than #5…ahead of the Ducks because they beat them and ahead of Stanford because they lost their last game

Stanford pulled a Boise….lol…but I really wanted them to win

  5. OSU needed to blow out Stanford to get to #1. They didn’t. Stanford didn’t lose two games this year. They lost one. Shaw lost the OSU game. 50 seconds and all three time outs. How do not try for the touchdown or extra yards………….Blackmon played great for OSU by the way. May have been looking at #1 and #2 picks.

  6. Stanford played a very respectable game. Blame the coach for going too conservative and putting all that pressure on his freshman kicker. They had a time out to burn and could have taken a shot at the end zone.

    I’d rank as follows:
    LSU/Alabama
    OK State
    Stanford
    USC
    Oregon

But if the AP voters bump Oregon up, that’s OK too. Any given Saturday at the end of the season, pick two of USC, Stanford, and Oregon, and you have a toss-up.

  7. What do you think the chances are that Nick Holt could get the LB coaching position at fUCLA?

  8. Oh, and do you think Slutak going get a haircut?

And will the Fat Booster be back as well?

  9. more California Dreamin’ from the University of Shouldda-Couldda!!

maybe wolf could throw a #1 AP vote to SOUTHERN CAL and they could then claim another Champeeenship!!!

just like how a few years ago, US-C claimed the 1939 champeeeenship despite being ranked in only one of THIRTEEN polls that year!!!! the AP and ten other publications ranked Texas A&M champeeens!! even Cornell, who was ranked first in the other two polls scoffed at SOUTHERN CAL having the shame to claim a title based on 1 of 13 polls!!!

    SHOULDDA-COULDDA-WOULDDA!!!!!!! HAWR-HAWR!!!

  10. Fred – The real HAWR HAWR in town is the fucla football program. In the shithole for 10 years and counting. You have ZERO going on over there so you come here and make big deals out of nothing ie; Southern Cal. So who are you today, Bucket of crap, Miguelito, Yoda, or ThaiBeaner? Doesn’t it get weird talking to yourself Fred? Expecailly on the the competitors website? Poor Fred, from a Cal State school as well. Laughing at you Fred.

  11. Yes. Ok State was robbed and should be playing LSU. If LSU loses, it’s a split title.

  12. In the AP poll:
Where does ‘bama fall if it loses to LSU, close game or decidedly?
And then the opposite question if LSU loses, where does it fall, closed game or decidedly?
Lots of options, yet not all the cards have been dealt – pun intended Stanford!
I feel the Trojans will not move up from #5, regardless of scenario.

  13. If LSU wins:

    1. LSU (14-0)
    2. Okl. St. (13-1)
    3. Alabama (11-2)
    4. Oregon (12-2)
    5. Stanford (11-2)
    6. Arkansas (11-2) (if it beats K-State)
    7. USC (10-2)
    8. Boise St. (12-1)
    9. S. Carolina (11-2)
    10. Michigan (11-2)(if it beats Va Tech)

If Alabama wins, LSU will be No. 2, Okl. St will be No. 3, and everyone else will stay the same.

Oregon is the Rose Bowl champ and should be ranked ahead of USC and Stanford. (Oregon has two more wins than USC.)

I think USC slips from No. 5 for lack of a bowl game if Arkansas beats Kansas State. Given that USC has 10 wins, the AP voters may also put Boise State, South Carolina and Michigan ahead of USC.

  14. Bucket you are a fucking idiot, post something relevant to modern day college football….Quit living in the past…..Bruinrob needs you for a little flag pole time

  15. early rankings are based on how good you are…

late rankings are based on what you did

if bama loses, they should drop down to #4, but we all know they won’t

I say that alabama should drop if they lose because…

they did even win their division in their conference,

    they would have 2 losse,

    they lost a bowl game,

and everybody who is not an SEC fan is tired of all the praise…

Kentucky, Vanderbuilt, the Mississippi schools, are weak,

a bunch of mediocres who won’t play anybody, and then 2 good teams

    ———

contrast that to the pac12, which had 3 very good teams
