USC athletic director Pat Haden spoke to Daily News columnist Jill Painter after the UCLA game about the basketball program and Coach Kevin O’Neill.
Money quote: “Kevin deserves (more time),” Haden said. “I think he’s a good coach and a good man. He does a lot of things that are important for this university other than just basketball.
“The kids are good kids, good character-kids and he graduated 100 percent of his seniors last year. Those things at a university mean a lot. At the end of the day, Kevin knows and I know and everyone knows that we’ve got to get the program rocking.”

    How did O’Neill “graduate 100 percent of his seniors last year” when they were recruited by Tim Floyd 4 years ago? They were Floyd’s seniors. Pat Haden would never put up with this kind of incompetence if it was the mens water polo program. We are all alone in last place in the weakest major conference in college basketball. What an embarrassment. Fire O’Neill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    As I wrote before the game, I have attended practically all of the SC-uckla games, including basketball at Pauley, but I was not going to last night’s fiasco. Our boys, bless their hearts, just cannot shoot a basketball.

    And skipping over uckla’s jerks’ comments on this blog is a lot easier than escaping taunts in your ear at Galen from uckla loyalists

    Poor Harold Miner, it might be another 20 years before he appears at an SC basketball game. And the Miner bobbleheads went wanting because there may not have been enough Trojans in attendance who even remembered this great athlete.

    Haden is wrong on basketball. O’Neill does not deserve more time. These are his recruits. 0-18, 1-17 here we come.

    Would Haden stand pat if we were slaughtered in every game of our first half of the league in football?
    If we were in no way competitive in any of those games?
    If going in, it was factual that we had no chance to even come close to a win? You know, kind of like bRUIN football is!

    The scoring and rebounding stats tell a huge story, especially in the ucla game. Hell the ASU game, they came into Galen having benched 60% of their starters and mopped up the floor with us!

    We play big boy football, why don’t we play big boy basketball? The greatness of Troy makes this seem like a no brainer to me.

    In our current status.. How the hell do we even have a snowballs chance in hell of enticing a star in the making, like Shabbazz to actually come to USC? It’s not like there’s no F’n money or opportunity here?

    Shabbazz is a one and done, how does he help USC basketball in the long run? Garrett created this mess with his typical lazy hires and his total lack of oversight when he was told that there was something amiss with Mayo. I don’t think KO is the answer but USC has NEVER spent any real $$$$$ trying to get a BB coach and I doubt it will start now since Haden is more interested in getting USC athletics filled with meaningless women’s sports like Lacrosse.

    Pat Haden is to SC Basketball as Dan Guerrero is to UCLA Football. SC Basketball=UCLA Football=Irrelevant.

    If you all are hanging on to the possibility that Shabazz is coming to SC, you must be kidding. Probably a long shot for Bruins too…the one and dones seem to prefer Calipari and Kentucky. They hide their envelopes of cash better, or he can stay in Vegas.

    Really hope the Trojans improve at basketball and Bruins at football and we actually have a rivalry in something again. Trojans deserve to have something to cheer for between football and Spring football.

    O’Neill was dumped by Marquette, Tennessee, Northwestern, and Arizona so this is just the natural procession for him. He basically can’t recruit other than some other schools problem man-child. Haden got rid of Kreuter for baseball instantly w/o a second thought. There must be some major buyout involved to run scared of replacing K.O. Last night’s game should be the final straw losing big at home to an avg. ‘ruin team game over before halftime.

    If Kiffin had presided over such a fiasco, Wolf would never let it go. In fact, he would probably craft a new lame nickname for the incident, such as the “Failin’ in Galen” or the “Flailin’ Center” or “Bobblehead Bust” or something of that sort.

    But since this sad state of affairs falls at the feet of KO, Wolf stays quiet.

Holding my breath in anticipation of your next crude response to make my day. It is a real dilemma trying to picture your mug shot though not worth the time and effort. Maybe you are posting from behind prison walls which would make more sense of your character.
