Chip Kelly’s decision to stay at Oregon benefits everyone. The Ducks keep their dynamic coach and remain a national power. The Pac-12 keeps what little national respect it has with Oregon and USC carrying their water. And USC benefits because it has a foil to keep it hungry and also gains stature with two strong programs in the conference.
Kelly also benefits because his offense would not have the same impact in the NFL and he would be just another coach struggling to win there.

Here’s the problem for Chippy. He doesn’t understand sports is a cycle (except Fucla, where their football program has sucked since ’54). Kelly is riding “high”, but not even close to Pete. And SC was sliding when Pete took a NFL job at twice the salary. I doubt Chippy will have as good a run over 9 years as Pete had. Not to mention Chippy had the cupboard full when he got there. Will there be a big time NFL job when the Ducks start to decline??? Chippy should have jumped. He could always come back.

Before Chip got there, Oregon was a good team with bad recruiting. But now they are a top 10 team with good recruiting.

111, let me give you some examples of why the Ducks will never be able to compete with USC and Pete:
1. Entertainment in Eugene is McDonald’s & a movie.
Los Angeles, LA Live, Pro Sports, Five Star restaurants.
2. Eugene’s $h!thole airport vs. LAX, Burbank, SNA, Long Beach and international flights.
3. Hour or so drive to mountains, desert, or sea vs. a trip to Corvallis.
4. Top 25 University in the world vs. not ranked.
5. Beach. Fishing hole.
6. More NFL players, Heisman Trophys and National Championships.

@NOBS you need to get out more. Perhaps your evening in Eugene at the Quality Inn with a 6-pack, Bill O’Reilly, Sports Center and 6 minutes of porn can be improved upon.
I grant you that academically SC is superior to Oregon (although not top 25 in the world) and certainly you win the football argument historically.
However, Oregon campus far superior to SC’s. College environment in Eugene much better than SC. Most Trojans have to go to Santa Monica, Manhattan Beach and yes…even to Westwood to find something to do. Although, according to the LA Times, SC is trying to develop north of the campus to create more of a college town feel….something similar to hmmm…dare I say it? Westwood.
Oregon offers great Pinot Noir…if you can put down the Pabst Blue Ribbon. 1 Hour drive to the beautiful Oregon Coast. Another hour south to some of the finest golf in the United States at Bandon Dunes. I would rather eat the fish from Oregon than from Southern California.
An hour drive to the mountains and some of the best skiing a little further away at Mt. Bachelor.
And airports? Have you flown out of LAX recently? Eugene is small and easy and the Portland airport puts LAX to shame.
