Morning Buzz

USC would like to shore up its running back depth following Amir Carlisle’s transfer but it is probably too late in the recruiting process to find a suitable replacement. USC would like to sign tailback D.J. Foster, but he is more of a combo tailback/slotback, so it is debateable how much of an answer Foster would be for the Trojans.

  1. So Oregon’s Kelly decides to stay put at Oregon. Thought so. Better to be a big fish in a little pond than a tuna in the ocean. And SC needs a rival, what with Stanford about to decline and uckla light years away from being competitive.

The reduced scholarships’ sanctions is worrisome. Yeah, yeah, I know, SC is doing great in recruiting high school All-Americans, but when a school can only choose 15 instead of 25 kids, there is no margin for error. It is an art, not a science, in forecasting how these kids will perform at the next, much higher, level i.e. college.

But the Trojans have to be proud of how its coaches are doing a bang-up job with the cards they have been dealt.

    Go SC!

  2. Chortle = the sound of a cute powder blue bear gurgling on a thick viscous fluid……

  3. some things never change….the Big Blow Bag spouting off tiresome, bland jibber-jabber, Jethro trying to undermine Chucker-Bucker’s street cred, and Mono, concocting one of his gay fantasies!!

and finally the wolfman, starting my day with some sweeeeet scooopin’!!!

you just keep ooooooooon scooopin’, wolfman!!

  4. I don’t think SC should worry about how to play foster. He will, after all, be attending ASU.

  5. I have to admit Chucker Bucker, that 714 guy was clowning you pretty bad the other day and making you look like quite the tool, BUT…

Looks like you got up, dusted yourself off, healed those bumps and bruises and are now back in action!

Now that is resiliance my friend, I am proud of you! Maybe we should call you Son Of Kobe Bryant!

  6. @LJ, “light year” is how long it’s gonna take USC to recover from the mediocrity period following next season, when all the reduction of scholarships start kicking in.

UCLA #10 in this recrtuing class and USC #31 – that, my friend is a fact, not a speculation…so much for the theory of some of you that claim “UCLA is irrelevant” HA!!! irrelevant YOUR ass.

  7. Lob – Depends on the recruiting service Lob! Mediocrity for USC football is @ 9W – 3L. Medicocrity for the powder blue pansies is the type of year you just experienced. Thank you Jethro for corrected our Cerritos education troll. HA!!! irrelevant as ALWAYS!

  8. Nabob: thank you for your support.

i always say you gotta be tough to survive in the rough and tumble world of big time Pac12 sports blogging!!!

sure, i get roughed up once in a while, but ultimately, i am the Bruin Achilles to these trXOan bullies. eventually i will destroy 714 and drag his e-carcass around the Daily News three times, just like i have with all the others who have made the tactical mistake of engaging C-Buck in this forum!!!

i mean, would you jump into the water and challenge a Bull Shark to a biting contest???

that’s how it is for me now, always the torturous wait for some over-confident novice to call out the old gun hand. only one day i know it’s gonna be some mentally challenged trOXan fan that i leave motionless in the e-dirt….

  9. For the millionth time 1 5 star recruit and 1 4 star recruit does not make you a top 10 recruiting class… And even if it did… It still does not transform your team into a contender. The 2nd thing you ass clowns are missing is USC is allowed 15 new scholarships per season, so when kids transfer or get cut it opens there scholarship spot up. Meaning we will still sign more then 15 recruits per season. 3rd I would argue USC is actualy mire attractive to recruits now that they have a little less of a struggle to get playing time which is part of the brilliance of lane kiffin giving ready freshman playing time. So seriously stop talking about the potential of USCs demise and worry about what is actualy happening which is USC is a top 3 team with an Imense load of talent for years to come. 1 more season for barkely gives us 1 more year to develop a replacement qb which we have 3 top 10 in their position coming out of high school lol really top 10 recruits in every position across the board. So seriously guys stop worrying about USC in the future…

  10. Ahhh, Charlie Bucket is back for another therapy session, lol.

I must have really gotten under your skin Charlie Bucket, for you to post a long rant like that. For a guy who prides himself in keeping his cool, looks like you are a little rattled right now.

Ok, now entertain us all…and DANCE MONKEY! lol

  11. Blue – you are incorrect, which is not surprising for a Trogan. You WILL NOT, I repeat, WILL NOT, sign more than 15 guys a year. So sorry.

  12. Lol speed what do you think the early enrollees are for? There are loop holes… Why do you think the Trojans are so willing to let freshmen and sophomores transfer so easily… They’re guys who aren’t cutting it anyway so why not make room for someone who will make an impact… You really need to look further into it. I thought the same until a month or 2 ago until I was fully educated by someone inside the program. Read wolfs comment about finding scholarships and nudging recruits to transfer.

  14. The penalty is a loss of 30 scholarships…. Not USC is limited to 15 scholarships per recruiting season lol…. We lose 10 scholarships a year speed… That has nothing to do with scholarships that open up due to transfers and cuts

  15. Blue, that all ended with EE’s this month. There is no wiggle room on the (15/75) sanctions handed down, until the 2015 class (25/85). But, the NCAA is considering lowering the (85) limit. USC is helping that debate with their success using 47 players a game. Bottom line, as it stands now, the Trojans will probably fall below (75) in the near future.

  16. Ok… Clarification the EEs count towards the 2011 non sanctioned class… The only thing they count towards is USCs max of 75 per season but not the 15 they’re allowed for the 2012 class… My bad but I knew they could land more players through a loop hole.

  17. There is the possibility that they can sign EE’s next January if they don’t sign 15 next week. As in 12 now and 3 in 1/2013.

  18. Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnggggggggggggggggggggggggg.

    I’m outta here.
