USC v. UCLA

Who will have a higher ranked recruiting class next season? USC despite scholarship limitations? UCLA with its new coaching staff?

  1. If UCLA beat USC by 7 spots in the scout.com rankings, UCLA will surely destroy USC next year, epecially after UCLA goes 10-2 next year and plays for the PAC-12 title again, with no “asteriks” needed this time.

    Go Bruins!!!

  2. The two classes you took at Cerritos certainly did not add to your intelliegence did they Lob?

  3. Hey bruinrod….it sounds like you still have bucket’s dick stuck in your ear….your football knowledge is very limited

    scout.com rankings = football wins….what a idiot…lol

  4. How about if UCLA wins less than 10 games next year BruinRob never posts on this site again? And if UCLA wins 10 games I’ll donate 50K to UCLA. Deal?

  5. Scout bases it’s “rankings” on overall points, which makes comparing UCLA and USC’s 2012 classes a complete joke. UCLA took 28 signees to USC’s 15, and averaged 3.14 stars-per-recruit to the Trojans 3.80.

But apart from that mathematical problem, there’s also the little issue of recruiting consistency when considering their 2011 classes. USC finished 4th, while the Bruins finished 55th, and signed just two players above the three-star level.

However NONE of this matters if the culture around UCLA football doesn’t change. The Briuns have been getting some top talent every year, but can’t seem to translate it into wins.

Will Jim Mora be the answer? He sure wasn’t in his two other head coaching jobs, and with a 31-33 overall record… it’s pretty clear that sub .500 won’t keep him employed in Westwood for the long haul.

  6. PC/SC turned their program around starting with that ONE guy… Shaun Cody! Is Ellis McCarthy the Cody of fUCLA’s 2012 class? We’ll see… a good USC – fUCLA rivalry is good for the city. Another 50-0 blowout just shows you how far that program has fallen off.

In the meantime, Welcome Kenny Bigelow. Way to go Kiff scooping up 5*s right off the bat.

  7. BruinRob, lets look at Scout.com, ESPN, and Rivals.com and average all 3, just to be fair… USC an average of 13.3 and UCLA an average of 14.7. so I guess you dont look at all the facts…

  9. past results don’t equal future results, especially with a whole new coaching staff that’s mean and nasty! Jim Mora is not rick Neuheisel. 50-0 is the best thing to happen to UCLA in the past 14 years, maybe ever!!! 50-0 yeah!!!! I love that score!!! thank you trOJenz!!!

  10. Ya’ll realize that you are wasting your time by acknowledging and getting your feathers ruffled by Fredo, errrr BruinRob, right?

    Don’t feed the monkeys!

  11. FatFok2009, U aint got 50 quid son. Sit down & STFU Cabron. BRUINROB OWNS and brings the knowledge to the board.

  12. You can’t compare classes because of the sanctions. It is like apples and oranges… no it’s like gold and silver. USC put 500 oz’s of gold in their portfolio, and UCLA put 1000 oz’s of silver in theirs. Now, do the math, and may the best team win.

  14. bigelow, cravens, hutchings, redfield, browne(maybe) et al would strongly suggest USC will certainly top ucla in the # of top 100 recruits and per recruit star average once again.

  15. You can crunch the math all you want but what counts is between the chalk lines. I remember when Zumwalt took the Bruins over the Trojans and I thought about it and decided to see how he prospered under their coaching. Now don’t get me wrong he is doing an ok job but he wouldn’t be playing at SC. I watched him and his skill level for two years just hasn’t improved all that much. I expect he will do better under the new regime but look at the three freshmen from last season and tell me where he plays at SC. He is the Galippo of the LB corps, I think.
Quite frankly, until the rubber hits the road I will hold judgement on UCLA but I expect McCarthy will get handed his hat against the good teams and I have heard since I live in the Monrovia area that he is not a hard worker because he has never needed to be one.
    Let the season begin…

  16. Seems like Wolf just did this one last week. Running out of topics? Maybe change it up every now and then Wolfie…might make the spouse/girlfriend/life partner happier.

  17. @BruinRob: you’re getting really boring, bro. Usually I enjoy responding to your clown ass but lately it’s just useless. Why do you keep writing the same garbage? 50-0 best thing ever Mora blah blah blah…..
Actually bein happy about losing 50-0 is the most pathetic shit I’ve ever heard. Mora has NEVER coached a college program and you expect him to just walk in and beat a National Championship contender USC (who plays at home at the Rose Bowl this year)?
    Seriously?
    Troll on though…

  18. ftbo2009 – “How about if UCLA wins less than 10 games next year BruinRob never posts on this site again? And if UCLA wins 10 games I’ll donate 50K to UCLA. Deal?”

It would be a dumb bet, because you wouldn’t donate the $10,00 to UCLA…the only reason you’re making this proposal is because you really don’t think UCLA can win 10 games.

  19. @ftbo2009 – typo $50K

@sdBob – I love RN, but Mora has brought his staff of nothing but coaches with lots of experience and with creative schemes, and the new staff will challenge the players to maximize their potential, Zumwalt along with Larimore and a few others will shine under the new regime…as I said past results don’t equal future results…new coach, new system, new attitude.

@SUC owns – I get reminded of 50-0 constantly by your like, and I simply remind you that 50-0 was the best thing that ever happened to UCLA. If not for that, we would still be talking about passion bucket, and relentlessly possitive crap – instead we’re talking about a “new culture”. What you expect from me bro? I don’t creat the topic, Scott does, you respond and I reply. I don’t expect UCLA to be National title contenders this year, but I don expect them to be Pac-12 title contenders, and after looking at their schedule, it is very realistic they can go 10-2…with a POSSIBLE loss to Nebraska, and USC, and that’s about it.

So if ftbo2009 is serious on his wager, I’m willing to risk never posting on this blog again…it’s worth $50,000 donation to UCLA – as long as he does it on my behalf, I would like to enjoy some of the perks that donors of $50,000 or more get.

  20. Wasn’t it bRuinedRobbed all over the boards telling us how fUCLA was gonna punish the Illini’s in the Fight Hungarian Children in SF???

As for Ellis McCarthy… the kid is 6’5″ 311. Can’t get down low to tackle small quick Pac-12 RBs like @ Oregon… isn’t that why USC is OLB are converted Safeties… DL smaller/quicker?

  21. a dozen 3* players who are on the bench or play special teams do not contribute nearly as much as one 5* player who is on the short list for all-americans at his position

UCLA is near the bottom of the pac12 because it is a passing league and UCLA does not have a passing attack and they do not cover receivers well

they play far below what one would expect given their proximity to very good hs players – and the same could be said for CAL

Newheisel was a bust at UCLA, we will all just have to wait and see what the new coach can do
