In this segment, the issue of whether a school needs to honor scholarship offers arises.

A: The downside is you can develop a reputation with recruits and high school coaches of having no integrity. That might not hurt you dramatically but it might cost you once or twice and devalues the actual offer. At some points, recruits won’t believe you when you offer.

    How about recruits having some class and honoring their verbal commitments. Otherwise what’s the point of these.

    I guess the person who bet “never” won the pool for when Wolf would report that SC has formally announced the hiring of assistants Hazelton and Sanders.

    I didn’t ask this, but I think Period’s (.mownyc) question and Wolf’s response should meet in the middle. Not too much harm in offering elite kids early. Personally, I don’t think Payton should have had an offer in the first place. He just doesn’t look that good. I think he’ll add solid depth for the Bruins, but that’s about it.

    Why should recruits “have some class and honor their verbal commitments” when their position coaches that recruited them skedaddle right after signing day when it’s too late for the recruits to go somewhere else? It’s a business and the recruits should be their own advocates and get the best situation they can since the universities and coaches sure so.

    gotroy…..agreed, but I’m sick of all the signing day theatrics. Just sign your name and knock off the hat show.
