Scholarship Question

Do you agree with USC’s position against multi-year scholarships?
Yes No Don’t know

  1. I think if the kid “makes” the team, he (or she) should be able to keep their scholarship. Just to revoke it is (ALL)BS. I also think if a coach leaves, the kid should be able to transfer as well. None of it will ever happen, so this is just talk.

  2. If a student-athlete can transfer and break his commitment to the school and transfer if things aren’t goin his way then the school should be able to end the relationship as well. As long as the recruits know coming in that their scholarship has to be renewed every year then there isn’t much room to complain.

USC was the exception when it did not give scholarships year-to-year so this shouldn’t be a big deal.

  3. a school doesn’t have to grant a transfer, right? they do it because it’s usually best for both parties. if a student-athlete leaves school he has to wait an extra year to pay football at the same level, right? not sure of either of the above. can someone verify?

either way, the multi-year scholarship – if it were to come to fruition – would hve to go to a very good student as well as athlete.
