Tuesday Links

Former wide receiver Brice Butler tells the San Diego Tribune he left USC because Lane Kiffin did not treat him the same as his own recruits.
“When (Pete) Carroll was there I was one of the guys that, you know, Carroll looked out for,” Butler said. “When you get a whole new staff, it changes. So that was one of the biggest reasons. It wasn’t because of nobody that was playing ahead of me or anything like that. It had nothing to do with the players. It was all upstairs.”
And here’s a spring preview from Athlon.

  1. it’s a coincidence that woods and lee happen to better? he really didn’t play that much under pete either.

that said, i like brice and hope he lights it up at sdsu. it’s probably natural to feel that way about a boss that didn’t hire you and doesn’t give you the attention you desire.

  2. oh, wolfman you CALLED IT!!!!

internet sensation dillion baxter met the same cruel fate!!

it’s a shame so many trOXans are cast aside like used tissues discarded by grocery clerks who want to collect a bill.

  3. Bucket, I have seen many offensive things on this blog, but mangling a line from Apocalypse Now? Now you have gone TOO FAR.

  4. “t wasn’t because of nobody that was playing ahead of me or anything like that.” Right; if Brice was good enough to start ahead of Woods and Lee, he would still transfer to football powerhouse SDSU. Only Scott believes that one!

  5. It’s really unfair the way Kiffin has treated the players he did not recruit.

I mean, Carroll never played favorites. That’s why CJ Gable was never in the doghouse. Why Vidal Hazelton saw so much playing time.

Matt Kalil? Kiffin was so unfair he decided to turn pro one year early.

Matt Barkley? Treated so shabbily he came back for another year just to spite Kiffin.

TJ McDonald? See Matt Barkley . . .

Kevin Graf, Khaled Holmes, Wes Horton, Devon Kennard, Jawanza Starling, Curtis McNeal? Don’t get playing time because Kiffin didn’t recruit . . . Wait. Maybe the best players play, and those who are not, don’t.

  6. Cade: I might add that Joe McKnight got yanked all the time for fumbling. Guy never got any love from the coaches.

  7. Don’t forget Sneaky Pete getting all Sandusky over Matt Barkley his first couple years!

  8. Dont forget “Bill” being a huge fucking troll on an SC blog!
