One of the oddest decisions of the offseason was the departure of linebackers coach Joe Barry to the San Diego Chargers. Barry was a USC graduate and making more than he would for many NFL teams. So why leave when he might be looking for a job a year from now if the Chargers fire Norv Turner.
Sources said Barry left USC because his relationship with defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin became strained last season and caused him to look for another job. One would think the pair were extremely close after working together in Tampa Bay before coming to USC two years ago. One source said Barry was willing to take a pay cut to go elsewhere.
