Answer Monday!

Time to finally answer some questions and recruiting is the first one, of course.

Specifically why has Coach Ed Orgeron changed recruiting territories from a hotbed of high school talent to a region still not able to compete on the field with LA or OC? Is there a difference of opinion on the importance of recruiting D-linemen between Kiffn & Orgeron and where is Monte in this scenario?

A: USC believes the Inland Empire is an increasinly important area with the emergence of schools like Corona Centennial and Vista Murrieta. He also wants defensive end Joe Mathis of Upland and safety Tahaan Goodman of Rancho Cucamonga.
It also allows Kennedy Pola to return to his roots and recruit Orange County.

Scott are you concerned that Dion Bailey is too undersized to survive the season at linebacker? He a great player with tremendous football sense like Groots but concussions were an issue his last 3 seasons.

A: I think that is a legitimate question. This year will be a key test. He was bothered by a concussion in his first college season. Can he survive this year without another one? He is small for a linebacker so we need to see if he can handle being in a physical position without incurring injuries. It’s even more important because last year Tre Madden was the backup but he is now a tailback . . . and hurt.

Hi Scott,
Why do you feel the need for an apology from the Kansas basketball coach? I’m sure it’s not the first time someone has called you crazy.

A: I don’t care if Bill Self apologizes to me or not. I just think it’s funny he said I was nuts for ranking him third before the season and the Jayhawks went to the championship game. I’d like to hear his follow-up comments. And no, it’s not the first time I’ve been called crazy.
