    although UCLA has produced some of the finest players in the history of the NFL, this appears to have been a down year draft-wise.

    it also appears to have been a down year for players with big fat mouths, wasn’t it, Messrs. Tyler and Gallupo??

    the thing that most people hated about Gallupo was, he would spew his trash talk AFTER the game and only if Southern Cal won. as for Tyler, although i wish ill on no one, i have to conclude his vile treatment of women created tremendous amounts of negative Karma, which has come home to roost with devastating financial consequences!!! all i can say is, girls, if you see him puckering up anytime soon….DUCK!!!

    It is so hard for even a great high school footballer to make any money at the NFL level.

    How many kids play high school ball– I would estimate a million at least.

    How many make it to the college level– 100+ top colleges at 85 scholarships, call it 10,000 kids.

    Now how many are drafted that will make money– Top 60 for sure, and then maybe another 140 or so if they are lucky.

    So even if you are that 1 in a 100+ high school kid who gets a scholie at a top football college, you then have a 2 in 100 chance of making it at the pro level.

    Better hit ‘them’ books kiddo, it is your best bet.

    LJ…problem with your math is the 85 include freshmen through red shirt seniors. So say every school has something like 20 eligible for the draft. Odds still not good, and that’s not counting the ones who get drafted or free agents who then don’t make it or last only a year or 2. This is why the education should be more important.
