Here is a potential starting lineup for next season that looks quite different than the past year.

G: Jio Fontan
G: J.T. Terrell (pictured)
F: Ari Stewart
F: Renaldo Woolridge
C: Dewayne Dedmon

This lineup could easily change to include point guard Maurice Jones (last year’s top player) or guard-forward Byron Wesley. The big difference is depth as USC could also bring forwards Aaron Fuller and Eric Wise off the bench along with center James Blascyzk.

  2. Looks like bRuinTodd has guaran-f’ing-teed a National Champeeenship with that All-Star lineup!!! Here’s to hoping they don’t CHOKE like they did a couple years ago in THREE STRAIGHT Final Fours!!! HAWR HAWR!!! How queer that the bRuins haven’t won a champeeenship in TWENTY YEARS and none before that since the 70s!!!

    “Basketball school” on, though!! (chortle)

  3. Howland will figure out a way to blow it. The Muslim is a one and done, so he’s no biggie.

    50-0

  4. I agree with everything Go Go said. Especially the 50-0 part, that was spot on.

    50-0

  5. Hey, when USC finally builds the Galen Center things will be different for men’s hoops! Then the Pac-10 will have to look out for the ‘Jans, baby!!

  6. Owns the rose bole

I gess you missed my preveus post.

I ABSOLOOTLY GARENTEE A CHAMPEEON SHIP.

For one time just ONE of you Trojans sold step up and GARENTEE the same! As I said beefor…… Go to a farm that know how grow testikls!

  7. The roster is improved but what worries me is that 3 of these guys will be here and than be gone after one year. Dedmon seems to be made of glass and if he does have a decent season seems to have his sights set on the NBA and the current recruiting class has only only two moderately recruited freshman. Is KO trying to buy himself another year or rebuild the program?

  8. BruinTodd, don’t forget about Nick Hundley and Dale Earnhardt.

  9. It’s interesting that whenever anybody beats Charlie Bucket/ThaiMex to the punch, he avoids commenting until either much later to sneak in a cheap, lame comment that most of us won’t bother coming back to read… or they avoid it altogether.

I mean, you claim USC under Carroll to be failures for only winning 2 national championships (AP, with 1 BCS vacated from the “books”), but are too afraid when someone points out that UCLA failed three years in a row yet wants to call itself a basketball school still? Ha.

No worries, just change the subject to how all we talk about is UCLA despite this blog’s readership consisting of a ridiculous percentage of bruins.

This all just proves who REALLY has an inferiority complex, currently. UCLA fans on a USC blog daily says it all.

    Fight On!

  10. wow, you trOXans are too much. earlier today you called Troy Aikman a “known Homosexual” and now Shazaaaam is a “Muslim”…

just when the Cadre starts to take pity on you, you pull this stuff…

and all this becuase the wolfman simply named your big 5 for next season, you guys fall apart!!! why so defensive and angry??? you got Lottery Pick Deedmon and Gio “the Savior” Fotaine coming back!!!

    man.

  11. For all of you Bruin trolls:

Considering what a great pro Kevin Love has become do you guys ever wonder what might have been if he had gotten himself in shape when he was at UCLA and not played like he did with a pair of man-boobs?
Maybe Howland could now claim something more that final four appearances.

  12. Jezro: KL was first team All America and Pac 10 player of the year…not good enough for you???

did his chunky form bother you that much?? Shaq Diesel was rather chunky as well. what are you, a chiseled mass of steel??

  13. Bucket, to afraid to admit your team choked? a you claim USC football did? What a pathetic coward.

  14. So now the benchmark for UCLA hoops is a final four appearance?

    Not like the old days…

  15. At the end of the NBA REGULAR season, there were MORE BRUINS (12) in the NBA than from any other College. Duke was second w/10 players (yup…You know where this one is headed!). Where do the Torgans RANK among schools when it comes to NUMBER of players in the NFL for the most recent season? Did the Torgans do better in football than the BRUINS did in Basketball?
BTW….NCAA Basketball championships are decided ON THE COURT, via a very organized TOURNAMENT. At the end of the season, ONE TEAM is crowned as The Champion.
Football Championships are POPULARITY CONTESTS, they have always been and still are MYTHICAL. There are no PLAYOFF’S, unlike The College World Series, Women’s Softball, Tennis, Golf, or even ULTIMATE FRISBEE! The NHL, NBA, NFL, MLB, SOCCER all have some sort of LEGITIMATE Playoff procedure. College Football championships are decided by Coaches (w/agenda’s), and/or (biased)SPORTSWRITERS representing various cities/schools. NOTHING IS EVER DECIDED ON THE FIELD….hopefully, one day that will change, but up to NOW, College Football Championships are POPULARITY CONTESTS!
    FIT ON TORGAN!

  16. Yet football is the biggest sport in America and your school SUCKS at it, pansy. Thanks for the insight, ThaiBitch. Now finish those chores for mommy.

Remember, you’re a UCLA fan on a USC blog. Enough said.

    50-0

  17. It looks as if SC’s sorry 2011 season can be viewed from the rear-view mirror, because with the new lineup things are looking up

And perhaps now I can return to that junk-heap Pauley Pavillion with the new coat of paint. I have always enjoyed a good SC team playing a very good UCKLA squad, because it is so exciting when Troy turns them into bRUINS.

  18. Things would be looking up for our worst team in SC history if you asume Arizona, fucla, Cal, Colorado, UW and Stanford lost all their stars and all their new recruits were killed in a bizarre vending machine accident. Andy is right, the Drunk is just trying to buy a season with one and doners and transfers instead of building a solid program like Mike Montgomery has done. With all the talented young coaches that were available this year it makes no sense why Haden has kept this disgrace to basketball.

  19. Wow Thai,

That was one bizarre, rudderless rant. So the schtick now is pointless rambling and every so often go to all caps.

    You fight on, big fella!

  20. Thai: the PRESSURE is really starting to affect the trOXans around here, they are falling back to NUBS tactics, with Honophobic and racist rants!!

i think we need to dial it back, or i am not sure they will even make it to the start of their monumental football collapse this season!!

i am afraid, however, the recent antics of the Nabobs removes any chance the Cadre will go easy when the Pious Passer falls flat!!! you can all rest assured the pieces will be scattered with extreme prejudice!!!

  21. Hope barks doesn’t CHOKE like UCLA did in THREE STRAIGHT Final Fours!! Ouch!!

    AUUUUUUU-WOOOOOOO!!

  22. actually, UCLA didn’t choke in any of their final 4s. They lost to better teams each time, namely Florida. Someone wake me when SUC reaches the finals, or just a final 4, just once…

  23. We’re a football school, bruh! It’s like asking someone to wake me when UCLA reaches a BCS game–it’s hard to imagine me NOT sleeping a looong time :/

Well, here are a couple of things wrong with your argument:

    1. Two of those teams you mentioned DID lose their stars and are not bringing in great recruiting classes. Washington will return an OK lineup of Terrell Suggs, Abdul Gaddy and… N’Diaye? And their recruiting class is not strong to say the least. Cal is also hurting after losing Gutierrez and Kamp. They have Crabbe, Solomon, Kravesh and Cobb returning, plus one really good recruit in Tyrone Wallace, but, again, they lose more than they gain.

    2) For two of the teams, you are putting a lot of faith in a lot of freshman, because the four remaining teams have some significant holes that will have to be filled by first-year players. Colorado, remember, loses three of their six leading scorers (Brown, DuFalt and Tomlinson). They return three really good pieces in Roberson, Dinwiddie and Askia Booker, and they bring in a good recruiting class lead by Xavier Johnson and Josh Scott. Personally, I am not a big fan of Mater Dei players, so until X man shows it at the college ranks, I’m not sure how he is an improvement over Carlon Brown, who was arguably their second-best player. Stanford also loses the turnkey of its operations in Josh Owens. They bring back a solid, albeit undersized backcourt in Aaron Bright and Chasson Randle, and a couple of decent wings, but they are going to be relying on Roscoe Allen and Grant Verhoeven to produce right out the gate. That’s a lot to ask for one player who was absolutely exposed when he went up against top-flight talent in the CIF State Playoffs (Verhoeven).

    3) The other two remaining teams are going to be tough, no doubt.
Arizona trots out potential game one lineup of Mark Lyons, Nick Johnson, Solomon Hill, Grant Jerrett and Angelo Chol, with a bench that would include Jordin Mayes, Gabe York, Kevin Parrom, Brandon Ashley and Caleb Tarczewski. Damn.

FUCLA’s starting five is looking like Larry Drew III, Bazz, Kyle Anderson, David/Travis Wear and Josh Smith, with a bench of Norman Powell, Tyler Lamb, Jordan Adams, Tony Parker and David/Travis Wear. Again, that’s a nice squad.

But, with all that said, I’m VERY comfortable trotting out a lineup of Fontan, Terrell, Stewart, Wise and Dedmon and coming off the bench with Jones, Wesley, Fuller, Woolridge and Blasczyk. Anyone who thinks that’s not top 4 or 5 in the Pac-12 is kidding themselves.

And while some people have mentioned this looks like a 1-year team, I think the point is to showcase to recruits what this coach can do with a full compliment of players, which should lead to a bullish recruiting class in 2013. The Trojans are definitely in the mix for a bunch of top flighters in 2013, plus they conceivably would bring back Dedmon, Wesley, Jones, Stewart and Terrell for 2013. That ain’t small potatoes folks.
