Women’s basketball coach Michael Cooper announced his new coaching staff today. Someone needed to replace Laura Beeman, who became Hawaii’s head coach and Mary Wooley, who went with Beeman. But what happened to Michael Cooper II, Cooper’s son?

Morning Buzz
USC returns 19 starters including its punter and kicker but analyst Phil Steele compiled a chart that says the Trojans rank 123rd out of 124 teams in terms of lettermen returning this season. Steele says USC returns 36 of 64 lettermen (56.25 percent). He says Stanford and Oregon are tied for No. 4, with each returning 61 of 77 lettermen (79.22 percent).

USC tennis player Steve Johnson’s 72-match winning streak is believed to be an NCAA record. Exact records are not kept for singles’ winning streaks but the best known mark is in the 40’s.
Meanwhile, USC baseball’s 8-22 Pac-12 record is the fewest victories than all but two teams (1985, 2010) in the past 60 years.
