The USC baseball team wraps up the season today at UCLA. The Trojans are 23-31 and fell apart in the tough Pac-12 with a 7-20 record. Meanwhile, tennis player Steve Johnson is up 1-0 in sets in the NCAA singles’ semifinals.
And tailback recruit Alvin Kamara of Norcross, Ga., is scheduled to make an unofficial campus visit tomorrow.
UPDATED: Johnson defeated Stanford’s Bradley Klahn 6-4, 7-5 to advance to Monday’s singles’ championship.

Tennis Update
USC’s Steve Johnson advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA men’s tennis singles championships today with a 6-0, 5-7, 6-1 victory over Virginia’s Alex Domijan. It was Johnson’s 70th straight victory.
But he withdrew from the quarterfinal doubles because of mental and physical exhaustion.

Tailback D.J. Morgan ran 14.37 in the 110-meter high hurdles in Austin, Texas, which did not enable him to qualify for the NCAA championships. Morgan ends his impressive run of races despite running in only two meets this season.
Athens Update
Freshman Sabrina Santamaria is putting on quite an NCAA Tournament run by advancing to the NCAA women’s tennis singles’ quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Baylor’s Nina Secerbegovic in Athens, Ga. Santamaria is the only unseeded player left in the tournament.
Lee Update
Marqise Lee went 25-5.5 in the long jump at the NCAA West Regional in Austin, Texas, to advance to the NCAA championships.
Position Of Need
With two tailbacks committed and defensive line still an area of recruiting concern, maybe linebacker is the under-the-radar position of need: USC is aggresively recruiting linebacker Michael Hutchings and there are a trio of out-of-state candidates to keep an eye on: Reuben Foster, Trey Johnson and Jaylon Smith,
Tennis Update
USC has three players still playing in the NCAA singles’ championships — Steve Johnson on the men’s side along with Sabrina Santamaria and Zo Scandalis in the women’s competition. Johnson’s won 68 straight matches. Johnson and Roberto Quiroz are still alive in the doubles’ competition.
