Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott made $1.9 million in 2010 and was the highest-paid commissioner in the country, according to USA Today. Scott’s done a good job improving officiating in the conference and gets a lot of credit for the new TV deal, which is as much timing as anything else.
He also is not afraid to be a disciplinarian as Lane Kiffin learned last season.
Perhaps his one drawback is a change-for-the-sake-of-change mentality, like moving the women’s basketball tournbament up a week next year, which forces rivals to play each other twice in a week.
“Larry knows business, not sports,” a former Pac-12 employee said.

The Trojans defeated Virginia, 4-2, in a rain-delayed match in Athens, Ga., to claim their fourth-straight NCAA title.
USC’s Yannick Hanfmann clinched the title by winning the third set, 7-6, over Virginia’s Justin Shane. USC defeated Virginia last year, 4-3. USC defeated Tennessee in 2010 and Ohio State in 2009.

There is a rain delay at the NCAA men’s tennis championships with Virginia leading USC, 1-0.

This fell through the cracks earlier but former USC forward Curtis Washington transferred to Georgia State.

Scott Schenter, the owner of the famous Land Rover driven by former USC tailback Joe McKnight, was arrested today and charged with 60 counts in connection with the corruption scandal at the Los Angeles County Assessor’s Office. Story link here.

The No. 1-ranked Trojans go for their fourth straight national title tomorrow against No. 3 Virginia in the men’s tennis championships in Athens, Ga.

Just to show how recruiting services, Scout.com has USC at No. 9 but 247sports.com lists the Trojans at No. 21.

USC assistant coach Marvin Sanders and UCLA assistant Eric Yarber spent a couple hours together last week during a recruiting stop at a local high school. The pair exchanged pleasantries without any incidents. Of course they are both first-year assistants. Ed Orgeron would need to be there for some fireworks.

The USC women’s tennis team narrowly in the NCAA semifinals. USC got singles’ victories from Sabrina Santamaria, Gabriella DeSimone and Valeria Pulido.
