Su’a Cravens, a safety from Vista Murrieta High School, is going to commit to USC on Wednesday. Cravens is the top-ranked safety in the nation according to Rivals.com and No. 8 player in the nation.

    To put the NCAA’s sanctions in economic terms. The NCAA reduced the supply of available USC scholarships; meanwhile, demand (high) is unchanged. No wonder that the quality of the recruits increased. Unfortunately for the NCAA or anyone else, they can not impact demand for a USC scholarship.

    And, I agree with Trojan 70′s sentiments. I am surprised by the quality of this recruiting class. Off the charts good. I wonder how many Div 1 coaches would honestly trade USC’s 15 scholarships and 75 man roster for their 25/85. Other than maybe LSU, Alabama, Michigan, tOSU, I would guess that a significant majority of the remaining 100+ schools would readily take SC’s roster/recruits.

    you all know very well Southern Cal has ALWAYS had the best recruiting classes, but it never seems to work out!! i mean, the last “Dynasty” (pre-sanctions) can claim ZERO BCS champeeenships!! i just don’t know what it is…if Lou Saban or the Mad Hatter had this kind of talent, either would have won multiple BSC titles by now. oh, that’s right they have, even without Southern Cal’s talent, sorry.     What’s most DISTURBING about this is that Cravens isn’t even CONSIDERING committing to UCLA. What an IDIOT.

    Whatever, UCLA will have the best team on hardwood next season because we got whoever we wanted to come play hoops in the NEW Paulie Pavillien this year.
    We have now GUARAN-F’ING-TEED a champeeenship in hoops this year (even though we haven’t won a title in 20 years since the early 90s and NONE before that since the 70s… remember? we CHOKED away THREE STRAIGHT Final Four appearances just a FEW YEARS AGO?!) sugary sweeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!

    The number of stars in this class is impressive. Let’s hope they turn out better than all those stars USC recruited in 2007. USC will still need two more safeties. I’m guessing Redfield and Goodman. They also need a couple of LBs. I’m guessing Hutchings but they’ll need another one. I’d like to see them add one more big receiver too and I’ve read that there are a couple of prospects in Maryland (Harris) and Alabama (Woods) that have USC high on their list. But what about OLs? If USC doesn’t bring in any OLs this year they’re only going to have 11 in 2013 (assuming none of the current players leave early for any reason). They need four OLs and the only promising prospect I see is Falah who might end up at UCLA, God bless his poor soul.

    Interesting that Charlie Bucket constantly refers to the Carroll era as choking away “champeeenships” yet ignores the commenter above pointing out UCLA choking in three straight Final Fours. Why poke fun at USC when your own team is no better on the gridiron and had much worse failures in hoops (when comparing expectations of programs–USC football did well winning several BCS games while UCLA didn’t win any titles).

    Ironic indeed.

    The last time USC recruited a top safety, PC him 20-30 yards behind everyone else and got no experience covering anybody. He just became a last resort battering ram. This was exposed when he got drafted. Let’s hope Kiffin’s coaching staff doesn’t make this same mistake. Put him in the game to cause havoc!
