    FiGHT FIGHT FIIIIiIGGGGGGGGHHHHHHT

  4. NJTrojan, how many scholarships do we have left to give out? How does this affect who would were considering?

  5. Gotroy,

LaRue is the 10th commit. The main effect is that Paul Harris, the talented WR from MD, probably won’t sign with USC. Actually, if I had to guess, I’d say there’s a good chance Larue never signs and Harris does. We’ll address that when necessary, I suppose.

So, 8 scholarships remaining. One goes to Hutchings when he announces July 1st. Beyond that, expect to see Redfield, Willis, Khaliel Rodgers, Nico Falah, Vanderdoes, Goodman and??

  6. sounds pretty close ruintodd, are you sure you’re not a closet USC fan, last name I would guess would be Qualls

  7. Its pretty clear that BruinTodd is an ‘SC fan making fun of bRuin trolls

  8. NJtrojan is Bruintodd. He answered GoTroy not realizing he was still logged on as Bruintodd.

  9. Thanks! So you are saying there are 18 scholies counting 3 early entrances, so 8 left?

  10. Wow, I never suspected that NJTrojan of all people was posting as BruinTodd. I thought NJTrojan was just about the last no-nonsense USC fan posting in this circus.

  11. Gotroy,

That’s correct. 8 spots to fill. Also, BruinTodd is not NJTrojan. He’s earned his good name, don’t put this on him. I agree with Dirk that it’s time to retire the act. Of course, I thought this once before, and the Cadre seduced me back to action…

  12. You guys crack me up. Keep in mind commits don’t always sign (especially early ones, I think–but that’s an assumption since I don’t have the data to back that up). I don’t think USC can afford to take more than 3 WRs. But I’m not so sure all three of Mitchell, Massington & LaRue are going to play WR at USC. Mitchell & LaRue could possibly end up on the other side of the ball. On the other hand, Rivals indicates that USC has offered scholarships to 19 WRs, including 9 that are still uncommitted, of which a few could be the big SE type that USC has missed since 2008. So, maybe the coaches start telling Harris or one of the others, “We want you so bad we will make room for you,” and say Harris commits. Then the coaches stop calling LaRue while all those other schools that offered him a scholarship tell him how bad they want him. But maybe Kiffin was just blown away by LaRue and just had to have him. Don’t forget that a lot of us all thought Lee was going to be playing S.

  13. Responding as the wrong character – a misteke Bucket has made dozens of times. It’s not a big deal.

  14. Don’t jump to conclusions Jethro. Lots of people use the term “Cadre” on college football blogs.

  15. Going into 2012, USC will have exactly 75 scholarship players on its roster (assuming the remaining FRs actually make it onto campus and nobody else departs for whatever reason). Going into 2013, it gets tricky. If all of the remaining FR make it on campus and none of the current players leave early for whatever reason, USC would return 61 scholarship players. So, to make room for 18 new players, USC needs to say good bye to at least 4 current players or incoming FRs a little early. Normally, that’s not a big deal but with a limited roster, it’s tough figure out which spots you really have to fill.

I think USC needs to have: 3 QBs, 5 TBs, 2 FBs, 4 TEs, 7 WRs, 15 OLs, 10 LBs, 14 DBs, 12 DLs & 3 STs. Looking at the current roster & 2013 commits (and not knowing which of the 4 current players will depart early to make room for 18 new guys), USC will have for 2013: 3 QBs, 5 TBs, 2 FBs, 5 TEs, 10 WRs, 11 OLs, 8 LBs, 11 DBs, 13 DLs & 3 STs.

So I think the biggest need is at OL. I’d like to see USC bring in 4. But they might not need that many since 4 projected starters for 2012 should return in 2013 & they already have 2 OLs lined up for 2014. As long as they bring in 2, they should be OK.

As long as they bring in 1 LB, they should be OK since Madden could always move back to D in a pinch. USC still needs 2-3 more DBs though. They also need an NT.
