After going 0 for 2 on my Euro 2012 semifinal predictions, I will hold off before picking a winner for Sunday’s Spain-Italy championship.

  1. Come Wolf, go ahead and tell us who will win. That way we know not to pick that team.

  2. Spain looks pretty good to me being the current World Cup champ, and are playing at the same level or better since then. If the American MNT can travel to Italy and defeat the Azzuri on their own pitch, I’d say that Spain will probably be licking their chops on Sunday!
    Viva Espana!

  3. Spain aren’t playing anywhere near as well as they were in 2010, but they’ll beat Italy tomorrow. Probably 1-0.

  4. Globe,

Weren’t you just telling us how Germany would win this going away? What happened to your beloved Germans? I’m beginning to think you are a real bandwagon type of guy.

  5. Steadily, I appreciate and enjoy Scott’s keen eye for good-looking women. They can be affiliated with USC, its bitter rivals, or unrelated teams and organizations. They can be cheerleaders, aspiring sports videojournalists, or simply fans. They can be any nationality, race, coloring, body type, etc.

Scott doesn’t let petty considerations distract him from their beauty and sex appeal. He is an heir of Troy, although this particular quality descends more from Paris than from Hector. Regardless, I salute him.

  6. @Globe, The Spaniards are probably one of the all time world greatest teams ever. They are playing with devastating defense and have controlled the run of play during the entire tourney. Actually I also was wondering where your Germans are today?
BTW.. Spain at the half is killing the Blue.. they probably win 3-nil once they let Torres get his chances..

  7. Holy smokes Globe, I think you’d better go refresh your knowledge of the beautiful game! ESP 4-0 ITA!

  8. Great job Globe,

Getting two tries to pick the winner of a four team tournament. Even Fred Wallin could do that on that bootleg site where he sells “guaranteed winners”

  9. Relax girls. If Italy hadn’t had the terrible misfortune of their last sub getting hurt it would’ve finished 2-0. I predicted 1-0. Not exactly a whiff.

  10. @Globe… weak!
Ita folded like a cheap suit after the 2nd goal. How do you explain all the through balls, for the most part right up the middle? How do you explain the tremendous inequity of possession?
Their last sub got injured.. weak! What Ita did to England, without being able to finish, was done to them by Spain, who’s adept finishing skills crushed Ita’s heart! Although making the final, the 4-nil disaster should put them out of the top 10 (especially with a home loss to the Americans on their record LOL!

  11. Carlos – let me guess, you’re a Mexico fan who lives vacariously through Spain because Mexico never accomplishes anything. A very common occurance these days.

  12. @Globe – No, it’s just that I understand world class soccer a little better than you’ve exhibited on this blog. I’m USMNT and USWNT all the way to the center of my heart and soul! Kinda like being a Trojan! Actually until the past 3 majors, ESP, alot like Mex, always found a way to lose their biggest challenges! I just have to respect ESP for what they’re accomplishing in recent times. To play ESP right now is a daunting task. Will they hold up through the next WC? Who knows. I have to give them the honor now for sure!

I hate El Tri’ to the core, and Estadio Azteca just as badly! If one of their earthquakes were to knock it down, I’d crack the Cristal! hell, I’d even do that if Chicharito were to severely sprain his high ankle on the eve of our next qualifier with them! lol

  13. Anyone who hates El Tri is OK in my book.

Spain is clearly the best team in the world right now and maybe one of the best of all time. But the fact remains if Italy hadn’t gone down to 10 men with a half hour left the final probably would’ve finished 2-0.

I don’t know what happened to Germany in that semi. They looked unstoppable leading up to that.

  14. @Globe – What happened to Germany? you asked… is that they had to meet their historical football nemesis’ in the semi’s! Knowing that they had to play the perfect match, they immediately blew their cover, on Balotelli, thus allowing that critical early goal. Then, before German composure had returned, Balotelli was again left unmarked and at approx 30 minutes the Germs were down two.
That was all she wrote Globe, the Blue, with the experienced and dominating Pirlo, controlled much of the possession in the mid, and the Ital back line in tandem with Buffon continuously discouraged Germany. When Buffon made what I believe was the save of the match, from that close free kick at @ 65mins.. it was a crusher for Germany! What has it been since they’ve beaten Ital in a meaningful match? 17-18 years or so? The lone German goal was inconsequential, coming in added time.
I was surprised that Loew did not start Klose up top and why he waited so long to bring in Reus on the wing and most especially why the Germans allowed Pirlo so much open space to dominate possession. I think that those tactics, especially the offensive switches coming so late, especially after being down 2 goals, were questionable. But then again it’s Italy v Germany and we all know how those match up’s have been turning out!
PS… I held back only wishing Chicharito a high ankle sprain instead of a compound fracture of that ankle.. soley because I’m a gentleman! lol..

  15. Carlos,

In holding back on your ill wishes you are showing a lot more class than a large number of Mexico fans, many of which have absolutely no boundaries when it comes to showing “support” for their team.

  16. Jethro makes a good point. In some countries “supporting” one’s team includes things such as throwing bags of urine at opposing players and having spontaneous all-night street parties outside the visiting team’s hotel on the eve of matches.

  17. Hell yeah, when our MNT goes on the road in Concacaff, we are so hatefully dispised by most of the opposition that our players are often so at risk that they are actually guarded by the hosting military.

Actually I find much of that to be the case throughout Fifa! And FIFA want NOTHING of ever having the USA win their effing WC!
It is my soccer dream, for us to one day dominate the World Cup so fiercly that we actually win it! Then upon being presented that phoney looking WC.. to place it at center pitch, and the whole team circling it and pissing all over it.. As the steam rises from it, we jog off the field and never host or participate in it again!

  18. Let’s also not forget booing the USA national anthem while you are there and attending the game. Real classy.

  19. Carlos – why do you say FIFA has it in for the US? I know they’re a corrupt bunch of bastards, but I’ve never seen the US as a major victim. Keep in mind the US gets a virtual free pass to every World Cup courtesy of FIFA giving way more qualifying places to CONCACAF than it deserves.
