  1. Re: Redd. Many sources, pro and con, have jumped in. “WE ARE SC”, and “bleacher report” have good coverage of the possibility.

  2. that sounds about right. Our D is not as good as the hype. I saw a magazine call our 104th ranked secondary “the strength of the defense”

they better get Redd in here we are going to win alot of games 41-38

  3. scott do you have any idea why our defense is still so bad? With MOnte Kiffin supposed D guru coaching and so many highly rated players, why are we giving up games ilke last year vs. a really bad Arizona team where nick foles blew us out for like 400 yds passing? Or, as Lane says so eloquently “the defense needs to learn how to finish”

I mean, I have nightmare of the MNC game and a big SEC RB and running game just pounding our undersized LB’s and DB’s and making us look stupid

  4. @bushwhite: Since you get points for TDs, FGs, safties & conversions, I care more about scoring D than total yards (and when you look at passing D I think you should look at pass-efficiency D not passing yards allowed). Last year USC’s scoring D was 45th. The year before it was 63rd. Consistent improvement (by percentage) would suggest that USC should finish 32nd in scoring D in 2012 but I think the returning experience in the back 7 should see USC rise into the top 20 in scoring D maybe & even higher if the center of the new DL is good to go.

  5. Redd is not the solution at TB. Redd is 5-10, 200. As the starting TB for Penn State he played in all 13 games but he ran for 100+ yards in only five of them: Indiana State, Indiana, Iowa, Purdue, Northwestern & Illinois. The only other time he got close to 100 yards was at Temple when he rushed for 89. His ave per game against Alabama, Eastern Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, Wisconsin & Houston was 58 yards. He carried the ball less than 12 times only once, at Ohio State when he rushed for 63 yards on 8 carries. Against Alabama he rushed for 66 yards on 22 carries. He rushed for 53 yards on 15 carries against Nebraska.

Still he would bolster depth at the shallowest position on the 2012 roster & I can’t think of any alternatives. I believe he’s a true JR this year so he would take up a spot in 2013 too.

  6. Can’t we get like a DT/NT to transfer here? I’m much more worried about that than RB.

  7. ftfo2009: Penn State has a really good UT in Jordan Hill. But their starting NT graduated.
