  1. Lev picked up on a report last night that Redd is seriously considering transferring to USC. It would make a lot of sense for him to do it unless other less tangible and personal factors would keep in Happy Valley. Tailback U returns 4 starters on the OL. There are currently only two known and healthy TBs on the roster in McNeal and Morgan. Allen’s talent is unkown and Madden is out for the year. Agholor is a true FR. I believe Redd has 3 years to play 2 so unless he gets hurt under the necessary circumstances he’ll be gone after 2013. Agholor will most likely play in the slot more often than not & McNeal will graduate after 2012. That would leave only Morgan and probably Madden as likely contenders in 2013 unless Allen or one of the 2013 signees comes on strong. And of course, there is that preseason #1 ranking…

If he does come, though, USC could have to take a scholarship away from Markowitz, Andrew or Burnett, or grayshirt Rogers, unless somebody leaves the team for some other reason.

  2. NJ: Two days ago you stated Redd was not the solution to USC’s RB situation. Comments by so-called “experts” on other websites: “a dream come true for USC”, “a stud, like McNeal”, “doesn’t fumble”, “no injury problems”, etc. At this place in time, what better solution do you have? As a true freshman (77 rushes/5.7 avg.). As a sophmore (244 rushes/ 5.1 avg.), per Rivals. And, Agholor, like you say, to WR.

  3. @Edward: To be honest, I’m kinda coming around although I still haven’t watched any video on the kid so all I can go off of are his stats and what other people say about him. What I was suggesting two days ago was that based on the rushing yards he produced against Penn State’s better opponents last year, he didn’t seem so special. Those numbers suggested to me that he was not destined to be the next great TB at TB U. But you’re right the experts are pretty high on the kid. And more importantly RB depth looks really, really scary now–not 2013 but now. So USC could really use him and there are no other external options. Assuming Rogers clears whom would you remove to give Redd a scholarship?

  4. we only have one experienced RB on the roster: mcneal. redd ran for about 1,200 yards for a team that had poor QB play. he was their best offensive player. seems like a good fit for 2012. hope it doesn’t affect isaac or davis(2013 recruits).

though i read somewhere that he’d be a top ten RB for the 2013 draft. maybe he only plays one year here. RB’s do have to be concerned with short shelf lives. that could work.
