Scholarship Questions

Lane Kiffin awarded a scholarship today to walk-on punter Kyle Negrete. Kiffin said USC is not over the 75-scholarship limit. That means USC either does not expect freshman wide receiver Darreus Rogers is not going to be eligible or one of the walk-ons previously on scholarship is not going to be renewed.

  1. The season is here. I don’t want to talk about sex. I don’t want to hear “I can’t wait for basketball season”. I don’t want to be a Bruin, but I am. I’ve spent the last 2-3 years in a terrible mood and I need this year to be different. So while you freaks are on this blog having sex with each other, or whatever the F you’re doing to each other, I’ll be watching football. I’ll be a real man. I’ll be eating steaks and sipping pinot. If you insist on having sex on this chat board, I’ll insist that you leave. If you want to talk about your di*k, move to Pen Island. It’s TBD if Jim Mora is even a man. But he better be. Cause this is real.

  2. ^If you were a “real man” you’d be having Cabernet or at least a Merlot with your steak, but Pinot? Don’t think so.

  3. By the way,

I’m not here to talk wine. If you’re some young professional obsessed with “cabs” and merlots, I really don’t care.

  4. Lets see, you a bruin and insisting someone leave? Lets spare you a big let down, get it over with now, accept the fact that this season is going to really suck for you. I do agree with you about Mora though. I am kinda fond of reisling, but a good cab is hard to beat. See ya next year. If you are filled with expectations for the bruins you are guaranteed to be let down.

  5. Good call, Steve49. Unfortunately, I suspect you’re correct. This season will be no different. About 4 games in, I’ll head to my secret airport and leave. But I won’t make excuses. Enjoy your national championship, lucky bastard.

  6. Negrete is a cyborg on the field. Dude deserves a scholie. Now he can drop a few Nuheisel Nicks in that bum’s cup who lives under the 110. Goes by the name of Charlie…

  7. Looking ahead–way ahead, it looks like Rogers is not going to qualify so none of the WOs will have to give up their scholarship & since Wiley failed to qualify Negrete got his & USC has 75 scholarship players on its roster. There are 13 RS SRs & SRs that will finish their eligibility at the end of the season. (Kennard should take a medical RS & return as a RS SR next year.) That leaves 62 potential returnees. That would leave room for only 13 new scholarship players. But keep in mind that 1 of those returnees is Andrew a former WO that could be asked to give up his scholarship in his final year of eligibility & there are another including 24 upperclassmen that could turn pro a year early. Of those only Woods looks like a 1st round pick at this point but I would expect at least a few more to have a breakout season or take a chance in the draft & every year a couple of guys leave the program for some other reason. If just 5 leave the program early for any reason that would leave room for 18 new scholarship players.
