Armstead Sues USC

Former USC defensive lineman Armond Armstead filed a lawsuit against USC today in Los Angeles Superior Court, according to the Sacramento Bee.
The lawsuit claims USC team doctors gave Armstead a painkiller that caused him to suffer a heart attack. Armstead always claimed he was fine when asked about his medical condition.
His lawsuit says he suffered chest pains in February, 2011, and was injected twice with Toradol, which is used for short-term relief of pain.

Vehitike Returns

USC linebacker Simione Vehikite returned to practice Wednesday after getting released from jail earlier this week. Vehitike served more than three months for leaving the scene of a car accident and driving with an .08% blood-alcohol level and causing injury.
He was actually sentenced to a year back in May for the two felony counts.
USC coach Lane Kiffin did not announce Vehitike’s return but it might explain why walk-on linebacker Will Andrew is no longer on scholarship.

Quote Of The Day

“I’ve always thought pregame talks were the most exaggerated talks in the world. If they’re not ready by then they probably won’t be. My pregame talk will say, ‘Does anybody have to go the restroom?’ ”

Practice Update

USC held a light practice, usually run on Thursday, as today’s workout. Cornerback Brian Baucham will be available to play even though he missed most of training camp because of academic issues.
Linebacker Will Andrew said he understood why his scholarship was not renewed as USC got down to 75 scholarships.
“Whatever the coaches ask me to do, I will do,” he said. “The situation was out of my control.”
USC coach Lane Kiffin said he typically does not explain to walk-ons why they are not renewed.
“He was fortunate to have one for a year,” Kiffin said.
Kiffin said there was no change in the status of freshman wide receiver Darreus Rogers, who is waiting for NCAA Clearinghouse approval.
For some reason, Fox analyst and Ohio State tailback Eddie George wore a USC football T-shirt at practice.
