Moving Up
Cornerback Kevon Seymour talks about his rise up the depth chart and possible role as the No. 3 cornerback against Hawaii. Link here.
Morning Buzz
The athletic dept. confirmed to me USC will wear these shoes for every football game this season. In the past I mentioned Lane Kiffin envied Oregon and wanted to emulate them in terms of alternate uniforms, socks, shoes, etc. How do I know? Because he told this to people since he arrived at USC.
The next shoe to drop (no pun intended) will likely be an alternate uniform for the 2013 season.
Depth Chart
USC released its depth chart Sunday night but it revealed little. Curtis McNeal “or” Silas Redd will start at tailback. Max Wittek “or” Cody Kessler is the No. 2 quarterback. And Lamar Dawson starts at middle linebacker despite his oft-mentioned training camp injury.

Mora On USC
UCLA coach Jim Mora was asked by Daily News columnist Jill Painter if it helped that USC is already competing for national titles, which he wants to win with the Bruins.
“When was the last time they won the national championship?” Mora said. “If you think lately in this business is eight years . . .” Link here.
No. 2 Wait
Lane Kiffin said during today’s practice that he will decide Tuesday morning whether Cody Kessler or Max Wittek is the backup quarterback.
“We gave both guys reps today,” Kiffin said. “They both did great (Saturday).”
Scholarship Questions
Lane Kiffin awarded a scholarship today to walk-on punter Kyle Negrete. Kiffin said USC is not over the 75-scholarship limit. That means USC either does not expect freshman wide receiver Darreus Rogers is not going to be eligible or one of the walk-ons previously on scholarship is not going to be renewed.
Cornerback Corner
I listed Kevon Seymour as one of the three most-impressive freshman at the end of the first week of training camp. He is now competing to be the No. 3 cornerback with Torin Harris (hamstring) currently out, Isiah Wiley no longer in the program because of academics and Brian Baucham coming back from his own academic issues.
Seymour and walk-on Ryan Dillard, who intercepted a pass yesterday, are currently the third-and-fourth corners heading into Hawaii week.
