Here’s a quick reaction on USC dropping to No. 2 in the AP poll today.
“I don’t care about it,” USC quarterback Matt Barkley said. “It really doesn’t motivate me. I know (Alabama) is a great team.”

  2. He’s assuming that if we win all the games we’ll end up being ranked #1 in the BCS, and play in the national championship game. Either that or he some kind of filter between brain and his mouth when talking to the media.

  3. He doesn’t care about being ranked #1 after the 1st week of the season. He cares about being ranked #1 after the last week of the season.

  4. Simple, don’t worry about the stuff you cannot control (east coast media bias and scheduling) but win each game and finish the season in Miami.

    So “East Coast” media bias is only applicable when we’re dropped to #2, but there’s no bias when we’re voted #1 preseason? oh, okay I get it.

  6. Look, Alabama destroyed a team that was in the top 10 that probably should not have been in the top 10. Michigan will end the season with 4, maybe 5 losses. The Alabama win will suddenly not be that impressive. Does MB care about not being #1? Of course… Duh! But is he going to spend his days worrying about it like Wolf worries about what color socks and shoes the players going to wear? No, he knows he has no control over it. At the end of the day, all this team can do is play hard and make no mistakes. Fight on!

  8. The two main polls are purely subjective. They let reporters like Wolf vote in one and sports information directors, er I mean coaches, with conflicts of interest vote in the other. Alabama looked like it didn’t skip a beat from its great season last year in crushing another elite, albeit rebuilding, program on a neutral field. USC was explosive but against an inferior opponent. I would have voted Alabama #1 too.

We’ve played 1 game of football and ThaiMex is taking our 30 pt win as a sign that we’re going to choke, and when we do, we’ll be so proud of our pre-season accomplishment that we’ll hang a banner touting that next to our 24 Rose Bowl wins. Yes. 24. We’ve won twice as man Rose Bowls as the number of times you’ve been invited. But yeah, we super-duper give a shit about preseason rankings. #getonmylevelfaggot
