Stat Of The Day

A USC spokesperson said earlier this week USC is at a “competitive disadvantage” because it has only 75 players on scholarship. LSU has 74.

  1. Boy, has a lot changed in machismo since the season started! What happened to all the chest thumping? What happened to just handing you the BCS trophy in August?

  2. WAKE UP SCOTT! You’ve been banned, kicked to the curb and dumped on. So you’re going to continue your Jr. High “rants”? What a dope. Can’t wait until SC bans you forever.

  3. That’s what happens at LSU when you recruit a bunch of stupid players

Keep it up wolfman and you may never get back on that practice field

PS….Bill do you even know what BCS stands for

hint: it doesn’t stand for bacon cheeseburger sliders

  4. Scott, hopefully you will no longer cover USC as you have now been banned. Mr. Optimist, your days are over and now you can go back to wherever you came from.

In regards to this post, the HUGE difference is that LSU can recruit and sign 25+ recruits (depending how many EE spots they have) and bring it right back up to 85. You’re welcome for the explanation. Now stop trying to spin everything into a BS negative aspect for SC.

  5. How come no mention of you being banned Scotty? Embarrassed? For the first time in 7 years, we’d love to hear what you have to say.

  6. How is a spokesperson stating an opinion a statistic? Bringing up a team that isn’t on SC’s schedule, that has mismanaged their 85 allowable scholarships, still doesn’t make it a statistic. Also, if someone said it earlier in the week, can it still be the (non)”stat of the day”?

  7. Life, Scott ain’t sayin’ $h!t! He’s scared to death. Next assignment at Daily News? Classifieds.

  8. I’d have felt better about this if Wolf had been suspended for poor grammar skills and overall incompetency, but oh well… I won’t miss his pettiness and smarmyness.

  9. The irony of Wolf being banned by SC is spectacular. Just a week and a half after implying the Kiffin was lying about Andre Heidari being injured, Wolf gets run for violating SC’s policy by confirming that Heidari needs surgery.

I suppose the only thicker irony would be calling this blog “Inside USC”, despite having to buy a ticket to get into the Cal game. Over the next few weeks will you be posting links to the LA Times, similarly to the systematic reposting of the Athlon Pac-12 preview we saw through the summer?

  10. Look! Up on the Parking Structure! It’s a turd! It’s a Flamer! NOOOOOOO. It’s the Wolfman!

  11. That same spokesperson the one who told you that you were banned for 2 weeks from practices and also that you were not gonna be credentialed for the stanford game?

  12. This is a strange spectacle. Readers of a USC football blog jumping for a joy that a reporter has been punished for providing them with information about USC football.

  13. ^^^ What is even stranger is our boys Haden and Kiffin thinking they win this one – either by the “sanction” being upheld or by looking like anything by heavy-handed turds at the end of this. It is hard to make Scott look sympathetic but USC’s Athletic Department has managed to make that happen. Maybe it is something in the air conditioning at Heritage Hall that needs to be dealt with. Maybe Garrett wasn’t actually his own fault…

  14. Now where are we going to find out relevant info like gameday shoe/sock combos, or that Lane Kiffin wore a brown belt with black socks?

It would be very appropriate and justified for the LA Daily News to use this as cause to fire Wolf, as an employee publicly embarassing his employer in this manner would be grounds for dismissal. But, this is really just the latest example of Wolf’s laziness, arrogance and incompetence.

Still, the quality of this blog won’t deteriorate because Wolf ensures that it is terrible.

  15. 74 AVAILABLE is different from TOTAL scholarship players, you idiot. USC has well under 75 AVAILABLE, just count the major injuries. You suck.

  16. Scott Wolf is a hack. The daily news should fire him.
Cancel Subscriptions! Boycott the daily news!

  17. w.e.b. – i come here for the posters like nj, evil robot, mono among others. it’s entertainment. real info can easily be digested elsewhere on the internet. it’s only here in small, rare doses.

  18. “How does Scott Wold keep his job?” should change his name to “How WILL Scott Wolf keep his job”

of course the obvious answer will be sucknuts.

  19. With injuries, (Wolf being the expert on USC injuries and the reporting of them) USC has less than 75. Is the bald little troll saying that having 10 less scholarship players does not mean a competetive disadvantage? Wasn’t that the whole point of including the reduction in the santions?

  20. what a bunch of moron crybabies!! celebrating that Wolff’s been banned, for reporting facts?? freaking Kiffin is a pussy!!! if J were Scott, I would just not post anything at all on here and teach you assholes a lesson.

  21. Crybabies usually don’t celebrate. Crybabies would probably go and troll, say, their rivals team’s blog.

  22. LSU has more than 74 scholarship players, Wolf. Your paraphrase changed the meaning of the article you linked as your cite. LSU has 74 “available scholarship players” meaning players on scholarship who are not out with injuries. LSU has more than 74 players on scholarship. USC has somewhere between 70 and 72 “available scholarship players” depending on the status of Heidari and Holmes, and at least three of those scholarship players are walkons who got the extra scholarships that USC gives out when it has some left over to give. By the standards used in that article by Jim Kleinpeter of The Times Picayune, LSU has 74 available scholarship players while USC has perhaps 67.
