Left Tackle Update

Lane Kiffin said he has not decided whether Aundrey Walker or Max Tuerk will start at left tackle. He did say Walker responded this week to the challenge of his job being on the line.

Max isn’t a fix all at LT. We got doubly burned by Kalil leaving early and Oregon snagging Armstead. Armstead is more ready for LT. Walker and Max are guards. Getting Holmes back will shore up the middle, but LT will be an open wound the rest of the season.

    Wolfe – where’s Farmer?

  • Trojanfan

^^^^Good question, where has farmer been?

Who are you asking, Thomas Wolfe?

  • SLOTrojan

Are you guys seriously asking Wolf to provide useful inside information on USC? Clearly, you haven’t been following this particular blog very closely. There is no inside information, no game analysis, no interviews with players or coaches that aren’t plagiarized from other sources and certainly nothing of any value from the host. It seems to me that the sole purpose of this blog is to create a forum for the somewhat witty posts of rival SC and UCLA fans. Wolf blows…

    Gotta Go

Wolf really is a poor excuse for a journalist. Wolf, the question isn’t IF Walker responded, but HOW Walker responded. Simply stating that Walker responded this week is useless information. Did he have a good week or practice? What did YOU notice Wolf? Oh, never mind, this guy is useless….

Interesting commentary !!! That being the case, two guards asked to play the all important LT position, does Kiff have a good excuse for not starting Zach Banner at LT?

With Banner at LT, assign Audrey Walker to back up Marcus Martin at LG and Max Tuerk to back up Martinez and Hobbi at RG, giving John Martinez second string Center responsibility. Back up Banner with Guertler at LT and Graf with Garness/Galten at RT. Abe Markowitz has had an arm in a sling since he arrived on campus.

BTW, Cyrus Hobbi is listed as a Guard on ESPN’s 2012 USC Trojan Roster.

    FIGHT ON, OL !!!

^^^^^If Banner was anywhere ready I’m he would be getting a long hard look at that position…..I think Banner is RS this year

  • Nice topic. Good to read.

    Schammer, TrojFan,

Along with wondering where Banner has been as well, why doesn’t Kiff consider moving Graf over to left tackle until another tackle establishes themselves. The way I see it, the interior of the line is in great shape as long as Holmes is in great shape as well. Even if Holmes is back soon, I suspect he’ll be playing at hobbled half strength. Holmes lifts the play of the guards, no matter who’s playing alongside him – Martin, Martinez, Hobbi, etc. Graf can hold down one of the Tackle spots, but there’s no one fully capable of managing the other tackle. Does anybody know what happened to Di Poalo? He was s’possed to be the natural successor to Holmes.

    Walker sucks.
