USC v. UCLA

Well, it took four weeks for both teams to get a loss. How would they matchup if they played today? And will they be fighting for the South Division title when they play in November?

  1. Scott, the answer is as obvious as the sun shines on the Bay, UCLA ranks #1 in the nation in total offense, their QB numbers are superior to our QB whom was supposed to be a runaway Heisman winner, and their RB has more yards than our entire team. And to add insult to injury, our depth is really hurting, our Offensive Line has major issues.

What is really scary is half their starting offense and defense is made up of freshmen and sophomores, I think we will win this year, but it’s not going to be a cake walk by any stretch of the imagination.

Either way, we will fight to the end. FTFO

  2. Not that UCLA doesn’t pose a threat but I’m more worried about what ASU does in the Pac-12 South race.

  3. The reason UCLA piled up stats in non-conference but immediately struggled in conference play has nothing to do with the players and everything to do with Mazzone’s offense. It has been thorougly scouted by the Pac 12 because he has been in the conference for several years, whereas Nebraska hadn’t seen it and Rice and Houston have very few division I caliber players. Don’t expect big offensive outputs from UCLA against any of the top teams in the conference this year.

  4. Good point trjons, I sure hope you’re right, but if not for some dropped passes in which two of them looked like TDs we might be looking at UCLA at 4-0.

  5. Oregon St didn’t play perfect either. And as for dropped passes, if Vainuku doesn’t lose the ball in the endzone when he hits the ground, USC is 4-0 and ranked #1 right now.

  6. That’s a clown question bro….

All you USC fans willing to jump ship because we are not winning pretty, go jump into a bathtub with Jim L Moran and a frayed extension cable plugged into Charlize’s electrical rectum…

  7. If our D line can control the line of scrimmage and get after the QB, then the game will not even be close

  8. For a guy who accepts no responsibility for the crude and tasteless posts on this blog and feigns helplessness at setting a civil tone, Scott sure knows how to beg for more of the same.

  9. It’s nice to see the Bruin’s play competitively. I hope it continues, it just makes for better football in SoCal and the entire Pac-12. I hope to see some of their fans start showing up for games. I heard the Rose Bowl was empty and fans were leaving early again. Sad to see such a revered setting as the Rose Bowl wasted.

  10. 13-9 UCLA … remember that Goatboy special. The gutties do not have the talent of SC but they do have a much better coach and play much harder. Sounds like another 13-9 special for that genius 4th and 40 Kiffin

  11. Have to say, UCLA looks greatly improved. They made a lot of mistakes against Oregon State, missed some throws, dropped some balls and gave up two huge plays for 14 points. Definitely could have won that game.

Hundley has a lot of potential; have to remember he’s just beginning his career. But he looks tough and has some leadership ability. Most of all, they just look more intense and more engaged. Mora and staff deserve some credit. Last add: Their schedule could not be easier.

‘SC is the more talented and experienced team, but we’re definitely not in gear.

One thing I would offer: The vast majority of teams are either simplifying their game or going one-dimensional. ‘SC has a complex offense with elite players in the pass and run games … so balance will always be a challenge. I’m not suggesting a change; just a comment that might explain our awkward shortfall of free and easy play.

  12. answer lies with George Farmer. Where is George Farmer, Scotty? Tell us WHERE???

And Brelsin is better than Ellis. He’s also far older and more experienced. Who’s better, Pick 6 Barkley or Brady?

  13. In my arrogance Id typically say that we’d smoke ucla 55-0 this year. But I have to give those bears some credit for getting a better offense this year.

I think we should worry about ourselves and not worry about that game til it comes time.

  14. The thing about college ball is that on average the team has a turnover of 25% each year, year after year. It is a somewhat different team every year, so the coaches kind of start from scratch and can’t have a handle on the team until it develops somewhere in the middle of the season.

I can recall some real good SC teams that started slowly, but in the 9th and 10th games of the year were No. 1. So don’t give up so quickly on these boys. The Defense is better than expected, and the Offense is so full of potential that I believe it will bust out.

That said, UCKLA is obviously greatly improved. If the two were to play today in the Rose Bowl I bet the point spread would only be SC by 1 or 2.

  15. Goat has a good 2 or 3 losses in him before he chokes again vs the gutties. 4th and 40 play calling is SO BAD

  16. 50-0 USC… I call that one my “Ram-Man Special”. The gutties do not have the talent of SC, nor are they bless with America’s Coach, nor, so far as I am aware, can they show off a hot coach’s wife, but they do suck much harder. Sounds like another 50-0 special, courtesy of Lane “4th and 40 AND MAKES IT!” Kiffin.

I feel two more months of champagne wishes and caviar dreams on the way before UCLA takes it in the shorts once again, lit up by INNER FIRE.

My play calling = SO GOOD! Cash Money Genius, people!

  18. Um … sorry Goatboy didn’t make the 4th and 40 , his overrated stat padding qb threw a FADE out of bounds … a Goatboy special. Meanwhile , Goatboy looks and acts like he wants to be with his arse buddy Suckisian more than that former Raider doing tramp for a wife.

  19. Son, have you been watching these games? Do you not have the Pac-12 Channel? Or any TV at all? Tell you what — a job hawking lemonade or peanuts at the Coliseum would give you a chance to check out The Majesty and to get some good healthy exercise, which might improve your disposition. Also, ladies love CASH, son. And INNER FIRE.

    All the best,

    CASH MONEY GENIU$
