Last year when a player fumbled the football, they were immediately benched. It appears that this season there is a new policy as Silas Redd continues to carry the ball even with his habit of “putting it on the ground”. Have you asked the coach about this inconsistency from last year?
A: That is a good question and I have asked yet. I assume that it is because of the lack of tailbacks because D.J. Morgan was hurt until this week. However, I also see what you might be alluding to that maybe Kiffin favors Redd because he is a transfer.
It’s one thing to bench a RB if the one on the bench is equal, but it’s obvious that Redd is the best RB, with McNeal a close 2nd, and really thin after them.
Not only that, but its evident how big of a void the Tackle positions present. We need to open up the lanes for these guys.
i do not know all the factors that determine playing time after a fumble. however, i do recall that how a player responds after fumbling is a major factor. every running back fumbles, but some may learn better from the experience and are better prepared mentally to return to play.
