Practice Report

Even USC wide receiver Marqise Lee said today he would not play cornerback.
“I want to do it,” Lee said. “It’s not going to happen. If they need help, I’m willing to do it.”
Tailback Silas Redd left practice wearing a yellow jersey but said he would play against Washington. His back bothered him against Utah. Wide receiver Robert Woods said he underwent another concussion test Monday and is fine.
Offensive tackle Zach Banner, who is redshirting, will make the trip home to Washington for Saturday’s game as part of the travel squad.
Josh Shaw worked at cornerback today.

I know we are having big problemos at the 2nd CB spot, but whose idea was it to ever enlist the help of Lee, by far our most explosive player? This is the one question Kiff should rudely walk off and by not shutting it down it keeps being brought up! Lee shouldn’t have to answer either. Playing Lee on defense would be as stupid as the vikings doing the same with Harvin. Sheeesh, after Robey leaves early, maybe Kiff will entertain Lee AND Woods taking snaps at CB. šŸ™

Of course winning games is what counts most, but winning Heismans is nice too. Why not let Lee play just a little CB, say a couple of times in the RZ when you just know the other team is going to throw the fade to the corner? Lee’s the best player on the team. He’s probably the best WR in the country and he’s made plays on ST. Why not let him make a couple of plays on D? He’d get a little more Heisman love this year and be one of the favorites next year. I’m not saying turn him into a two-way player, I’m just saying maybe consider using him in specific situations.

Agree with NL. He does Track & Field, why not let him shut down a receiver in the red zone once or twice a game? Not necessary but wouldn’t hurt either.

So let the idiocy reigh with RB and NJ…

    A) Just because he can shake and bake on those bubble screens doesn’t mean he’ll succeed at corner.

    B) More than likely Lee falls flat on his face at corner and is out of whatever Heisman discussion he was never in to begin with.

    C) Stop drinking the koolaid – “well it’s our highness Lee, of course his square peg will fit in whatever round slot Kiff hammers him in” – and leave Lee to do what Lee does best. This topic should’ve died as soon as it came up…but knowing the fantasy of our fanbase…

I guess Queenie (you don’t mind if I call you Queenie, do you?) is not in favor.

Maybe Queenie should do some research before acting brilliant and realize Lee played defensive back in H.S. so I’m pretty sure the position isn’t unfamiliar territory for him. His athleticism would give him a boost where any experience would hinder him.

Queenie, is Gold’s blog not exciting enough for you? Too many crying bRuins realizing you guys suck (again)? LOL
