State Of The Game Plan

Last week I quoted a former Pac-12 coach and an NFL coach who spoke about USC’s lack of adjustments.
Here is a clear way to spell that out: USC has been shut out in two second halves and four third quarters this season.
Does it make sense that one team is making halftime adjustments and another is not?
The media used to love to write articles about Pete Carroll’s halftime adjustments. Not anymore.
I’m fairly tired of writing about the offense’s struggles but how can you ignore it when a star-laden offense offers such little firepower. And you can no longer use the “center was injured” excuse.
When Matt Barkley was contemplating the NFL or a senior year,did anyone tell him, “come back next year and we’ll throw 20 times against Washington and run 6 times out of 12 on third down.”

    No, but they probably told him you’ll have a good chance to play in a Bowl game and that is still the goal. Wolf can worry about Barkley’s stats, but the only stat that matters is a 13-1 record, bowl win and possible national championship…..none of that is gone yet.     I think Kiffen has a team that would excel beyond what expectations were if only he could coach beyond mediocrity.

    Could it be that Kiffen’s wisdom surpasses all of our understanding, that there is a reason for all the mediocrity, smashmouth up the middle on 3rd and 5? Is there a result that we perhaps cannot conceive?

    I agree with TC. He is on point “SC SC has 2 weeks to get this right or they could lose 3 more games”. I have to admit Wolfie is on point also. It is the third year and The Kiffer has run a predictable vanilla game plan, with little second half adjustments, defense and offense. Basically, The Kiffer and Staff have had their hats handed to them in the second half by mediocre teams with astute coaching staffs implementing second half adjustments. The defiencies on third down are glaring. There are no screen passes, draw plays, reverses, passes to RB’s etc. eff it I could go on. Why don’t he just punt on 3rdandlong?

    ^^^^Slooow down dude, you are over thinking this, all good things take time, be patient, the climax is building….this team needs to peak at just the right time….If you have followed USC football over the last 10 years, you would know exactly what I’m talking about

    PS…bucket is the only one i know, who likes to hurry the climax, at least that’s what Bruinrob told me

    Think about it……2-12 3rd down convertions……10-70 penalties……Time of possession 32:00 vs 28:00, not a significant advantage……10-20 passing, 50% won’t beat ASU, Ducks, ND, ucla?……with 11:03 in 4th quarter UW fumbles on USC 6, trailing by 10. UW scores, they have 10:00 to 11:00 minutes to put 4 points on the board for the win…..Kiffin’s Trojans will not score A POINT IN THE SECOND HALF. TF, EL TROJ, you happy with this sh*t???

    ……4 turnovers by TROJAN DEFENSE. TF, EL TROJ, without those turnovers, we LOSE THE GAME because of Kiffin’s lame playcalling. The VOTE……60-35, and rightfully so !!!

    Not happy with the penalties, but 5 of them were from Xavier Grimble, Aundrey Walker and Jahleel Pinder….all young players. That’s the trade-off. Play the young players, keep getting top recruits and have them mature later in the season. You state a lot “ifs” and if my Aunt had balls, she’d be my Uncle. Last year USC was 6-2 after a triple overtime loss to Stanford and ended up 12-2 and #5 in the nation and possibly the hottest team in the country. No need to panic. LOVE the play calling. Let’s get physical and beat people up….
