Barkley’s Luck

OK, time to revisit that Steve Sarkisian quote from last year: “If I’m an NFL head coach, right now, I’d pick Matt Barkley ahead of Andrew Luck.”
I shook Sarkisian’s hand after the game but didn’t get time to really talk to him. But would Andrew Luck have thrown 20 passes Saturday night? The fewest passes Luck threw in a game last year was 21 against (of all teams) Washington.
But . . . Luck completed 16 and the Cardinal rushed for 446 yards, so it didn’t really need Luck to throw the ball. It wasn’t quite the going-into-a-shell game plan USC used.
