Chip Kelly On Ballgate

Oregon coach Chip Kelly spoke about the deflated balls during an interview on SiriusXM with Mark Packer and Eddie George.

“I heard about it, I think post-game, but doesn’t affect us,” Kelly said. “I mean we worry every day, or are concerned with every day of, what we can control and what we can’t control.  And what other teams do doesn’t really affect what we’re doing, so.

“I’ve always heard people don’t like, you know, some quarterbacks like balls a certain way or some kickers like balls a certain way, but again, for us it’s our mindset if it doesn’t, if it’s not under our control we really don’t worry about it.  So the whole story itself means absolutely nothing to the Oregon Ducks.”

  1. I really can’t help but like Chip Kelly. He just handles everthing well. After last years loss to USC he found Monty and personally congratulaed him.

  3. Chip’s statement about focusing his time on what he can influence is right out of Stephen Covey’s books.

He’s not perfect–I do think he should moderate his appetite for food, for his own health. Other than that, he’s about as good as it gets.

  4. translation: “this Southern Cal rootball program has turned into the Joke of the West”
joining their joke basketball and baseball programs, Chipperino!!
wolfman, it must suck to be chained to this Titanic of a school!!

  5. What all you Trojans fail to realize is that it was probably Barkley that told the manager to deflate the balls. Kiffin breaking the rules wouldn’t shock anyone, so he can take the heat. But the thought of Saint Matt violating the rules….well the Trojan family will never believe it and rally to his side. Poor little Matty….channeling his inner Mark McGwire. Next thing will be the interview where he wags his finger at the camera and winks at Lyin’ Lane.
