Kiffin On Ballgate

Lane Kiffin said this morning neither he nor Matt Barkley knew about footballs being deflated at the Oregon game. Kiffin said it was done on the Oregon sideline. Kiffin said a deflated ball would be harder for Barkley to throw in a game.

  1. If Kiffin decided this was a good idea, we are in deep cocka doodle doo as far as our game plans go.

    • I really wouldn’t put this past Kiffin. This is a coach completely in over his head. He needs to go.

      • I see this as a win-win, Haden fires Kiffin and we are rid of Monte’s Tampa 2, Haden hires a great new head coach and the players rally under the interim coach and win the last three games for the Kiffer.

  2. The official statement says it was on the USC side, Kiffin says it was done on the Oregon side? I’m sure Oregon has its own equipment guys and its own balls just like USC. Kiff, you mean to say that one of your guys secretly sneaked over there and deflated balls. Wolf, forget about Watergate and Bengazi, call Woodward and Bernstein, I smell a cover up. It just gets more bizarre with Kiffin. Is he pulling an Elliot Spitzer and trying to self destruct his career?

    • I find it hilarious that everyone all of the sudden thinks Kiffin is the worst coach. When not just a few short months ago you all were praising him. Yes, something needs to be done with the defense. But everyone seems to forget that we are sanctioned and are basically supposed to be suffering from the death penalty. If this team wins out and beats Oregon in the CCG, it will be all praises once again. PS – If you dont want your tickets to the rest of the games, I’ll gladly take ’em.

      • The issues are, they seem to be getting out played in the second half (scoring 125 while giving up 124), penalties (worst in college football), turnovers, an offense that has more talent and experience than last year and playing worse, now this ball thing. It’s frustrating as hell to watch. I believe they have the ability to win out. If so, the consensus seems to be, Kiffin needs new coordinators on O and D and focus on the big picture on and off the field (remember Pete working the sidelines firing guys up). But lose 5 in a row to end the season, time for regime change.

      • Everyone? Not me. The team started off dreadfully last year. The coach was handed a full house this year and folded.

    • I don’t know. I was talking to his wife last night and she said his package is to teeny to e-mail. Kiffy Kiffy Goat boy’s behavior is solid evidence why there are more horses asses than horses. Uscum, what a joke.

    • C’mon Golden Trojan. Blame who you want, but at least get the facts straight before fueling more speculation. Balls are run from both sidelines. No one “secretly snuck” onto the Oregon sideline. USC has 5 ball boys for every home game. 2 for each sideline and a runner for kickoffs and all other changes in possession.

      • First of all, as Linus once said to Charlie Brown, “doesn’t anybody appreciate sarcasm anymore”! Second maybe if Wolf would inform us about what happens with game balls, since know one outside of student managers seems to know, we wouldn’t have to speculate. Finally, anyway you look at it, it’s just bizarre, if the guy acted on his own or not, some are fully inflated, some are not, was he trying to help the Trojans or hurt them, who else gets fine for this?

  3. Can’t believe Kiffin is responding this way, like he is panicking… I think Nikias & Haden need to look at how this program is starting to come apart at the seams and look at damage control before this gets any worse. The players are iffy on the field and inconsistent in their remarks, the coaching is suspect and the head coach is a promotion-handler’s worst nightmare when it comes to his remarks. MG, did you take this into consideration when you hired this guy?

  4. USC admits wrongdoing and a USC team manager resigns but this was done on the Oregon sideline. Keep em coming Kiffin, maybe this will bury you for good.

  5. Could some who knows, please comment on the use of game balls. I have seen stories about Barkley working with the equipment guy to pick out the game balls. I believe the kickers do as well. I thought I saw a ball being used Saturday that had an Oregon “O” on it. Does each offense use their own ball when on the field and then switch when the other offense comes out? If so, Kiffin is totally blowing smoke out his butt in this mornings presser!

      • So are there are USC balls on the Oregon side and Oregon has balls on the USC side? The manager was deflating USC balls used by Barkley, on the Oregon side?

        • That I don’t know, but when the offense gets the ball, the ball guys/kids get the offenses ball to hand the the officials. The balls were found BEFORE the game from what I read elsewhere.

          • If the balls were found before the game then what’s the big deal and why did the manager resign in disgrace?

    • The sad thing is Matt had to know the balls were deflated when he went back to pass and yet said nothing. This is like a pitcher claiming he didn’t notice the baseballs were scuffed. His rep is going to take a beating if he doesn’t come out and make a statement immediately.

    • How is Kiffin blowing smoke out his butt? Many times, 5 Balls are chosen by the QB. 1 by the Kicker (for kickoffs). Oregon runs their own balls.

  6. Kiffin is in a full panic now and making up stories. We are the laughingstock on college football now. This is the opportunity Pat Haden has been waiting for to bring his own guy in.

  7. SUCks is the biggest joke of a program in the NCAA, and the dumb crap doesn’t stop coming, even while you are on probation! The DEATH PENALTY awaits….
    fit on torgan!
