Deflated Balls Update

I talked to a USC official tonight about how the deflated footballs were discovered during last week’s Oregon game.

According to the official, USC and Oregon kept the footballs in one bag. When the USC student manager used a needle to deflate the balls, the Oregon managers were upset because they thought he deflated the Ducks’ footballs.

Once they realized it was only the USC footbals that were tampered with, Oregon alerted game officials of the problem.

  1. Is it plausible that no one else from USC knew what was going on. Not even Matt Barkley or the wide receivers who catch the balls. Did they not notice a difference?

Why would a manager do this on his own? Doing so does not benefit him…but it would affect the QB’s performance. That is why this doesn’t smell right, even with the plausible deniability provided by a scapegoated student manager.

  2. The ball thing is over, the fine was paid. They played well (except for Barkley) and easily beat ASU. Move on, this is UCLA week, beat the Bruins, 50-0, baby.

  3. Let’s face it. Haden’s years doing color for the Notre Dame game changed him. He is much like the Brodie character on Showtime’s “Homeland”. I suspect his involvement.

  4. TYPICAL Torgan attitude……”we cheated, we were caught”…now lets move on…and cheat some more. The best little whore house on Figueroa, will always live up to its reputation.
SUCks football….Over rated and under inflated!
    fit on torgan

    • No one around here gives a shit what your koolaid drinking opinion is…..That sweater needs a trip to the cleaners before the big game….try not to wear it, when you have nuts sitting on your chin

  5. Did the culprit ever explain why he did it… did he act alone or was someone else involved? We can only guess until the answer comes out of the right mouth(s).
