The Best?

Is USC wide receiver Marqise Lee really the best player in the nation? No debate? What about that freshman quarterback at Texas A&M who beat Alabama on the road?

Well, USC boldly stated here Lee is the best. So it must be true. Just like Lane Kiffin saying, “stats don’t matter.”

  1. Everyone has to be right sometime, perhaps Kiff is right about Lee. Sorry, but Wolf is never right.

      • OK fucktard maybe you perfer the MSNBC of sports reporting. Point is the ahole has a bias

        • Ah, a foul-mouthed libtard. Point is everyone has a bias but Scott at least asks hard questions that fans want answered instead of acting like a trained seal like PA and Klein at the LA Slimes.

  2. Yes Scott. I suppose Heritage Hall is just supposed to say “look guys, we love Marqise as much as you do… but we also think Manziel’s the best, so no mounting a Heisman campaign this year.”

I understand Wolf often takes a skeptical/negative view on things, but this is — unquestionably — stupidity.

Or he just likes being a troll.

  3. How shallow of Monte to say he wants to return to the NFL. Everyone knows why he is leaving…..such a typical response from a Kiffin…..he gives up record numbers and all of the sudden wants to go back to the NFL? Best wishes Monte and enjoy El Paso! You’ve earned it!!!!!!!

  4. They just don’t get that it isn’t solely about stats and you can’t compare across generations. The team has to win. His numbers were no better than 7 other WR seasons since 2007, and non of them were even finalists. WRS just don’t get the same treatment as QBs and WRs.

    Michael Crabtree 2007: 134, 1962, 22 td non-finalist
    Dez Bryant 2008: 87, 1480, 19 td non-finalist
    Justin Blackmon 2009: 111, 1782, 21 td (1 rush) non-finalist
    Danario Alexander 2009: 113, 1781, 14 td non-finalist
    Justin Blackmon 2010: 121, 1522, 18 td non-finalist
    Ryan Broyles 2010: 131, 1622, ,14 td non-finalist
    Tavon Austin 2012: 105, 1677 (rush & rec), 14 td doubtful
Marqise Lee 2012: 112, 1680, 14 td likely to get invite to NY.

  5. The thing that makes Lee great, is that every game, the opposing team know the ball will be going to him majority of the throws. So they start double and triple covering him, yet he still goes for over 100yds and gets touchdowns.

  6. I guess Kiffin is right. Stats don’t matter. The touchdown numbers for all the other players listed there are wrong. A quick check shows that Johnny Rogers had 16 tds. Tim Brown had 7 tds. Desmond Howard had 23 tds. And that is nice how the guy includes Charles Woodson as a receiver with his pathetic
receiving stats. The only stats they got correct belong to…..Marqise Lee! Nice job trogan. Build up your player by belittling the others.

  7. DAMN! Not an SC so I didn’t watch many USC games but those stats are ridiculous. Why wasn’t there more heisman buzz for this guy?

  8. Hey Scott, Lane Kiffin doesn’t run the BELEEVE campaign. You didn’t need to drag his name into this post. BTW, he is the best player in the nation. QBs will always have a greater effect on the outcome of a game though b/c of the position they play.
