Paging Mr. Jones

Forget Manti Te’o, what USC needs is former linebacker Jarvis Jones.

  1. He leads the NCAA in forced fumbles (6, .6 per game) and is second in tackles for loss (19.5, 1.95 per game).
  2. Ranks fourth nationally with 1.05 sacks per game and leads Georgia with 10.5 sacks.
  3.  In SEC games, Jones ranks first in the league in sacks and tackles for loss.
  4. He led the team with a career-high 13 tackles, 12 of which were solo vs. No. 3-ranked Florida.

Sun Bowl Scenario

Some bowl projections have USC playing Georgia Tech in the Sun Bowl. Would an option offense just be one more thing to trouble the Trojans? Or does the fact Monte Kiffin coached at Nebraska in the early 1970’s make him an option expert?

I’m sure former Cal defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast, who I already mentioned might not even be considered considering his relationship with Jeff Tedford, is following developments.
