Sun Bowl T-Shirts!

Georgia Tech is offering this Sun Bowl T-shirt on its web site with the caption, “There’s nothing quite like watching two elite football teams duke it out on the field.” Indeed.

  1. Haha, ELITE teams? I must be mistaken, I thought this was Southern Cal vs Georgia Tech, since when has this game been the marquee matchup of the bowl season?

      • Have fun in El Paso! I heard there are some really nice sites out there. Maybe try visiting the great rocks after the Sun Bowl, cus you know, it’s such a prestigious bowl. Oh yeah, I almost also forgot, numerous ESPN writers, who are usually all Southern Cal fans, have voted our game in either the top 10 or top 5 most exciting bowl games of the year.

          • You’re right, you don’t. Because you get sanctioned, therefore you aren’t allowed to travel anywhere for bowl games. And even if my team did go to a place like El Paso, I would go to the game, cus I travel for the team, and the city doesn’t stop me. Man, it must suck being a fair weathered trOJan these days.

          • We are this year, and it was Year 1 under this coaching staff, so get used to it. Maybe you can shoot for the Sun Bowl again, that would be a realistic expectation with Kiffen as your coach and Barkley leaving with his finished business. And where do you think I live? Sorry, even if you think i live in Southern Mississippi in a cave, it’s not true. I’m pretty sure LA is my city. Now go and pay some more players.

          • Big yap. You said the same years ago when you won a game. Got news for you, when Lessa gets a real job offer, he’ll blow out of Fucla faster than you can 8 clap. Dude, LA sucks. Try Manhattan or Newport Beach. You know, the places you drive through to get to the fire pits at Huntington Beach on Labor Day. Hahahahahahaha

          • Yeah, we did say the same thing in 06, but want to know the difference? We have a real coaching staff and great talent. 13-9 was a fluke, as much as I hate to say it,, but 38-28 wasn’t. You guys have a more talented team, but we have better coaches and a lot more heart. And who wants to coach at SUC, while they are slowly digging their own grave. Have fun dreaming about Mora leaving, cus you can’t beat him! And yeah, of course he will leave, but not for a long time because he is building a great program in Westwood and we are willing to invest. His kids are starting high school in LA, and his oldest son will enroll in UCLA for soccer next year, so he was set his roots and you better get used to 8 claps and BOOMS because LA is switching to Blue and Gold (and a real education).

          • great reply, you must have an extremely high IQ to come up with an insult at this level.

      • Oh yeah, and I also forgot, numerous ESPN writers, who are usually all Southern Cal fans, have voted our game in either the top 10 or top 5 most exciting bowl games of the year.

        • God know “numerous” eSECpn writers can’t be wrong. “Guest” time to move on and troll anouther blog.

          • Yeah, they can be wrong, I.E. your preseason #1 ranking and a projected national championship. But for us, we have two proven, exciting teams going at it. Unlike the El Paso Sun bowl, in which two “elite” football teams will fight for am embarrassing win.

          • Just so you understand where we come from, your season at USC would be just as disappointing as ours is. We’re laughing at you because our season at UCLA would be expected.

          • we win 9, going to win 10 this year, under the first year of a coach, after 12 years of some of the worst coaching ever seen. I’ll take it, but you’re right, in the coming years, as we keep getting better recruits and players learning the offense better, and not having 3 starting Freshman O-line and a freshman QB, a 9 win season will be disappointing. Look at Carroll did in his first year, 6 wins if I recall correctly (Maybe 7 I’m not sure), and then look what he did after. Granted he couldn’t do it cleanly but still. Get used to us being better and constant 10-11 win seasons.

          • 6-6. Wikipedia. It’s not that hard.

I hope you beat Baylor, and I hope you’re actually good, because you better fking beat the hell out of texas in 2014. Not every coach gets better the second year, and when a guy like Mora does at a place like UCLA, he’s usually not around for long.

My point is how many times has a USC guy come up to you (minus the internet) and talk trash after a 4-loss season. Someone from UCLA did that to me, literally, today.

Also, just a point, there’s the same amount of evidence that Carroll was dirty as there is that Mora is dirty. Not talking about bs ncaa (i.e. mcnair lawsuit). If he was hiding anything, why did he go to the hearings.

          • Actually a lot, and I’m not saying to try to spark a fight with you, but there have been hundreds of times, where I will wear a UCLA piece of clothing, and a USC guy or girl, will come up and try to lay it into me. So even if you don’t (I believe you) many Southern Cal fans have trashed talked no matter what type of season they had.

          • We do have idiot fans. Some, believe it or not, even post in this forum. You did have bad coaches, but you actually have had recruiting classes way above your performance for a while now. Thank the NCAA.

          • Yeah our recruiting classes have been amazing but the coaches couldn’t develop the players or mis-managed them, much like Howland now

          • I think Franklin leaving will hurt more than a lot of people think, but I base this opinion almost entirely on box scores and highlight reels. I also think Mora is gone by 2015, and Mazzone might be gone before that.

          • I agree that Franklin’s absence will hurt immensely, but when Thigpen gets back from his ACL injury along with Craig Lee, Paul Perkins and (wishful thinking?!?) Newby, unlikely like that Newby ocmes to UCLA, but hopefully, I think that we will have a pretty good competition.

      • You are right, what a bowl game! Ranked the third most exciting Bowl matchup of the 35 bowl games. Nation’s #1 offense against the nation’s #1 sack leader. I am so pumped about this game. San Diego in December. Oh yeah!

          • If you watched ESPN College Football Live anytime this past week, then you would have heard them rank our bowl game constantly in the top 10 or top 5.

          • Never said I was an expert, but if you watched the bowl mania show, you would have seen the rankings. Stop making things up and talk with some common sense.

          • Haven’t made anything up (yet). I’m just saying, an exciting bowl matchup doesn’t necessarily mean a good matchup, or an exciting game (last year’s bcs game, or any ND game in the past 20 years).

          • Dumbass the top 5 Bowls are the BCS Bowls and the NC. You know, the big games, USC 6-1 in BCS Bolws fucla 0-1. Losers win 2 games this century against USC.

          • Top-5 most exciting this year. And cool, I don’t care about what you Trojans did in the past with your tainted wins and paid players. It’s about now and the future, and you are on the wrong side of the trend in LA

          • Since when is 1 loss a trend? You win 1 game at home by 10 points, not a trend. Enjoy youself you earned bragging rights for a year but don’t let yourself get carried away.

          • *player(s) – i assume you’re only talking about football
**also this implies that we paid them, not third party aspiring talent representation

I would argue USC’s future is considerably brighter than many would admit. Our team/coach(es) clearly wasn’t ready for expectations/pressure/etc after the bowl ban, scholarships hurt a lot (even bama was horrible with less significant scholarship reductions), and this place is a much more inviting place to coach after said sanctions are over.

          • But this is only the first year of a 4 year scholarship reduction sanction as you know, but it might be brighter in the way future, but I think these upcoming 4-5 years will be very hard on you guys

          • I think its 3 years…we’re done by 2014. Just in time for Mora to jet to the NFL…I think we are hurt more by the fact this year we basically had no depth on either lines – something that was a strength while we were good. Which is why I’m wondering why Kiff keeps recruiting all these wideouts.

          • I always wonder why fans like Joe Blow denigrate shared football titles when we have four of them ourselves.

          • Because we also have 8-9 total titles. And they aren’t from 1954. And we don’t go running off at the mouth about our programs that have not done $h!t…..like Fucla football.

          • We have titles from before 1954, in 1928, 1931, 1932 1939, as well as after 1954, in 1962, 1967, 1972, 1974, 1978 and 2003. Which do you not consider to be authentic?

  3. Wow! A shirt with a reference about Scott Wolff. When asked by The Daily News editor if the LA Times would like the Wolfeman as a beat writer, Bill Dwyre replied: “Ah, El Paso”.

  5. Don’t believe anything NUBSIE (aka Joe blow) has to say. He worked as a Laundry boy @ SUCks (imagine a White version of Ricky Rosas), once got coffee for Mike Garrett, and told everyone that made him “AN INSIDER”. He lives in a Double wide aluminum Trailer in Stanton off Beach Blvd, doesn’t drive and relies on his OCTD annual pass to get around. Once you cut thru his B.S., he’s a Sweet kid, harmless, Cherub like, but a couple bricks shy of a full load and “one chromosome too many”.
    Fit on torgans!

    • You’ve been eating too many tacos and drinking too much beer AGAIN. Eat yout heart out bro that you are a loser and I’m a true insider at SC. I know all about SW, which is why I was banned. I know about you as well. A few clues, no college education, no GED, lives in the IE and blue collar. Right amigo? Two initials for Scotty: BM. He knows……..I KNOW. And that’s NO BS.

    • I could tell, poor man probably has never done anything except claim BS facts and stick his chest out over the Internet. You have to feel bad for these types of people.

    • Don’t believe anything Bucket (aka ThaiMaxi pad, m00t, ) has to say. He worked as a Water boy @ FUCLA (imagine a dumber version of Adam Sandler in the “Water Boy” movie), once got tacos for Dan Guerrero , and told everyone that made him “AN INSIDER”. He lives in a tent in downtown LA off Mission and 5th st., doesn’t drive and relies on his daughter’s Barbie bike to get around. Once you cut thru his B.S., he’s still a idiot, with one good eye(thanks to bruinRob), Cherub like, but a lot of bricks shy of a full load and “one circlejerk too many”.

      • Correction, he jumped on the rail road, headed north to avoid the law and now lives in the Ventura River homeless camp and uses the Ventura Library computer to post.

  6. from pre-season nbr 1 to the sun bowl in El Paso, TX…

a little advice from me: if you are going to El Paso and you meet a nice “lady”, use no less than 3 rubbers at one time whenever you have sex in a Texas/Mexico border town

tip #2: the El Paso Econlodge on new years eve is a great place to meet drunk chicks

tip#3: I heard you can get some cheap pennicilan (for your new std) just accross the border in Juarez

tip#4: (this one is just for Trojan fan), let your fingers do the walking first, to make sure your new love in not a guy

    • WOW dude!, you really learned your lesson from past experiences. It sounds like you’re local to the area.

Having trouble getting a refund on that ticket to Florida

With pending sanctions, Chip is about ready to slip out the back door, i can see why recruiting has gone in the tank and kids are scratching Oregon off their list

      • You guys know all too well about sanctions and coaches jumping ship to avoid huge personal problems.

          • I never said fired, I said jumped ship after getting caught cheating. Big difference, and please refer to my post further up. Stop making things up and talk with relevant topics.

          • I said fired because the implied alternative is that the coach leaves for a better job, after being successful. I realize by explaining, I’m ruining the burn, but the point was that UCLA hasn’t had a successful enough coach in recent history to have had offers to leave, Mora, of course, excepted.

          • True, and I admit, we have sucked in the past 12 years, and I will admit that you handed us our a$$ recently, but Mora is a great coach and he has no intentions of leaving, reasons are that he set his roots down here in LA (not that important, but nonetheless) and we are willing to pay a lot more for him and the assistants and we have plans to upgrade facilities and he really enjoys UCLA.

          • It’s a hyperbole but I’m sure Saban said the exact same things. Also, Neuheisel’s son went to ucla, and Saban’s daughter is at bama, etc. It might mean something, it might not.

          • True, but also Neuhiesel got fired and Saban seems pretty content at Bama, obviously he has other reasons to stay, haha. But that was the least important part of my post. I’m just saying Mora has plenty of good reasons to stay in Westwood.

          • He does have plenty of reasons to stay, and Manhattan Beach is a nice place. By 2015, if all Bruin’s dreams come true, Mora will have plenty of nfl suitors and nobody would be upset with him for leaving. I doubt he’d say no to 12 million a year (what Pete makes, i think).

          • Can’t support a fellow PAC-12 member if he is being confronted about a situation all west coast residents are very well aware of?

          • Dude, i think your business is finished here. go troll another site, before you get railed

      • first, tex/mex border towns are the worst…
and yes, I had some experience with that

second, Chip is out the door – either sooner or later – and some sanctions are pending, but Oregon is still getting some very good players – and some nice projects who are flying under the radar

if you will notice that the ones who go to Oregon are turning into very good players while USC is still having a large number of “busts” in their 4/5 star recruits

        • Not that we can talk after this season, but those recruits sure have won you a bunch of national championships and Heisman trophies.

          • close…

about 2000? – Joey Harrington & team should have got a natty + heisman

2007 – Dennis Dixon injury + other injuries kept Oregon out of natty + heisman,

2010 – LaMike could have gotten heisman, but Auburn was a little stronger

2012 – Barner & entire offense bogged down vs Stanford, otherwise would be playing in natty & Barner could have won heisman over freshman whose team is not in the mix — only lost by blown field goals

2013 – another run for the natty

          • Almost only counts in horseshoes….Run along, Chip is trying to sneak out the back door, he owes the duck fans an apology

PS….and USC is a game away from playing in 7 straight NC games, put that in your pipe and smoke it…lol!

          • 2000 – Harrington wasn’t even in the top 5, according to wiki, brees and LT were higher. Oregon was never ranked higher than 5th, and by the last week, it had 2 losses, including one to 1-loss oregon state.

07 – yeah, that injury was bad, but there are tradeoffs with mobile qbs, injuries are one of them

’10 – It was either luck or newton, and a rb hadnt won (minus bush) since 99. wtf happened in that game. watching that game made me feel like obi wan at the end of episode III. you were supposed to be the chosen team. wtf.

’12 – Lee had more heisman votes than Barner. for a 5 loss team. And i can’t help thinking voters would have still screwed you out of the title game if you’d won. And 12-0 osu ineligible.

’13 – we’ll see. I’m not an expert on your team but don’t you lose a few starting OL, and Huff and Boyett? and barner? And Kelly (lol)?

          • ’12 – IF! Barner would have, could have torn up that Stanford defense on his own, he would have been way up their for the heisman — heisman is about wins and being a star on the college stage in the most important games

but of course, those Stanford linebackers completely shut him down — Barner had great moments, but not a consitantly good RB — which is why he was always behind LaMIke

as for ’13, Ducks are thin at guard, but return center & both tackles – so they should have enough firepower on offense,
            (always have very good RBs)

defense is questionable at inside LBs and both safeties, but should have quality replacements ready to go

I’m more worried about play calling and being prepared for big games — Kelly always lays an egg at least once a year

            —————

the real game we all want to see is USC vs Oregon in the conference title game: yet we have to wait another year before that big one ever happens

          • ….LOL!!!!…Sanctions are on the way and Kelly is gone, wake up and smell the coffee

The ducks will become irrelevant in the college football landscape

        • No one on this site gives a shit what you have to say, you might as well be talking to a brick wall,,,,

  7. Don’t believe anything Bucket (aka ThaiMaxi pad, m00t, ) has to say.
