From Sportscenter: “Lane Kiffin in 0-10 at USC after trailing by 7+ points in the 2nd half (2-16 as an FBS head coach).”
Just when you think USC’s season cannot be more pathetic, Georgia Tech is running over the Trojans’ defense, probably because the offense has been dreadful all day with 4 first downs in the first 3 quarters.
I can’t wait to hear Lane Kiffin blame this loss on the wind. Or Matt Barkley’s injury. Or his scraped forehead.
At least Paul Hackett lost to LaDainian Tomlinson is the 1998 Sun Bowl. This is worse.
Did barring injury reports really help USC this season?
I doubt special teams coach John Baxter sanctioned that low line-drive punt that Jamal Golden returned 57 yards to the USC 1-yard line. But hey, you never know. He is the best special teams coach in the country.
Monte Kiffin’s coaching his last game today and when he came up into the pressbox at halftime, he made a quick burrito before going into the coaches’ box.
USC might win this game but the notion that the Trojans are a rejuvenated team following their regular-season spiral hardly seems valid. And Max Wittek might be struggling but is he much different than if Matt Barkley played?
The Yellow Jackets score first on a drive that takes nearly 7 minutes. This game is fairly dreary so far and I’m not seeing that “it’s a new team,” theory that was being pushed by Lane Kiffin earlier in the week.

Neither team looks especially sharp in the first quarter though of it, at least for USC, is probably the wind.
A Sun Bowl official tells me Georgia Tech coaches says their players are fired up for the Sun Bowl. We will see about that.
