“Season Is Officially Over”

Lane Kiffin said he has not made many decisions other than hiring a defensive coordinator because he believes the “season is officially over today.” Some might argue it ended today much like the Sun Bowl.

In an interesting comment, he said out-of-state recruits come to USC more because of the coach than the school and that explains why there were so many decommitments. In other words, players were unsure of his job status.

But as I’ve explained many times, USC recruits USC. Look at the tradition. Look at the McKay Center. Look at who Paul Hackett recruited. Anyone can recruit at USC.

      This incredulous dumb-as-shit statement Kiffin dared make in front of a press corps cannot ever be forgotten. He is lashing out at the World who criticizes & blames him alone for the mess this football program has become. This is just about as immature as one can get being a head football coach. But when it is a USC level football program, you have just slapped it in the face. Try doing that at ND, Texas, OSU, Alabama and you get run out of town. This statement will haunt Kiffin from now on. You can put that in your diary!

    Actually I’m more convinced that anyone can “report” at the Daily News. Instead of conjecture, maybe next time, Mr. Wolf, you might want to try actually reporting. You can tell your bosses that, until they hire a competent journalist to cover USC, I will never pay for their paper. I cancelled my subscription quite awhile ago thanks to Mr. Wolf.

    I personally think USC needs to go in a different direction at head coach. But I would much prefer it being accompanied with actual professional journalists who report and discover the news rather than those who simply use conjecture, rumor mongering, and terribly little insight. I wouldn’t trust Mr. Wolf to either fill the water bottles of the USC team or correctly report who was responsible for filling them.

    On the bright side, back in 2001 when only 44,000 were attending Home Conference games I was able to easily park in and Exit from the Lot directly across the street from the West End Zone. Looks like I may be able to do so again the next few years.
