During his first spring practice as USC’s head coach in 2010, Lane Kiffin hosted Fresno State coach Pat Hill for a few days. This was noteworthy because Kiffin’s network of coaching associates was pretty small but he knew Hill because he was a graduate assistant for the Bulldogs.
Hill currently works as the Atlanta Falcons’ offensive line coach. Would he leave to coach at USC? Hmmm.
Again, the issue is whether he wants to leave Atlanta for a possible one-year job. There are some rumors Alabama is interested in him too. But he is obviously someone Kiffin would be comfortable with, so that alone makes him a possible candidate.

Then Al Davis fired Kiffin. This allowed Cable to have 2 years of head coach. Where do you get the idea he hates him? I think I heard about it, but nothing ever substantial. I remember Cable not being too happy that Jamarcus Russell was still calling Kiffin on the phone after he was gone.
Maybe to know Lane is to hate him. Does he have any friends?
Tom Cable has anger management issues doesn’t he, got in a pretty nasty fight with an assistant and hitting women. USC has enough trouble without that.

Haven’t heard the Pat Hill name in a while, but I liked him when he coached at Fresno. Didn’t his team give a Carroll highly ranked SC team fits one year.
Yep!…also beat UC Los Angeles in a 2003 bowl game…and they beat GEORGIA TECH in ’02 and ’07 bowl games under Hill.
The one whose name shall not be spoken had 500 yards in that game.
Hill would be interesting. Heard he loves SC and he would bring a lot of fire.
Pat Hill will never be a head coach at USC. He doesn’t have the political grace to get the job let alone handle it. If his players were more dissaplined, he wouldn’t have lost the games he did and eventually get let go. Pat Hill the position coach would be a better call at USC. I still say Tim Davis is the best choice if he was willing to work with Kiffin.
I find it refreshing to read a blog entry like this one and the comments what follow. The focus is on what would be the best changes for 2013. That is what’s important, rather than a lot of name-calling.
