Spring Questions

Spring practice starts March 5th. Does it matter if USC has a linebackers coach or running backs coach? If USC fills those spots before spring practice starts, is that enough time to prepare? Or is coaching overrated?

USC Morning Buzz

USC is pursuing running backs coach Tommie Robinson but Robinson is also considering an offer from an NFL team, according to sources. Arizona State also pursued Robinson before it filled the position last month.

Robinson spent the past three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.

About The Offensive Coordinator Search

Looks like Clay Helton is still headed toward being offensive coordinator. How come this search much-less extensive than hiring an offensive line coach?
Is it because Clay Helton won’t call plays even if he gets promoted?

Ed Orgeron Is Happy

So you should be too. USC defensive line coach Ed Orgeron did another installment with the school’s website and said, “One of the things that we figured out, Lane (Kiffin) and I, was that we needed to get a better scheme against the spread.”

That will no doubt be a relief to fans.

“I really feel we’re headed in the right direction. I am totally excited about everything that’s going on at USC,” Orgeron said.

Do you agree?

USC Morning Buzz

Dion Bailey says he is moving to his natural position of safety after playing linebacker the past two seasons and weighs less than 200 pounds in anticipation of the move.

This is interesting because USC does not seem overly stocked at linebacker and has a bunch of supposed starters for the safety position (Su’a Cravens, Leon McQuay, Josh Shaw, Demetrius Wright, Gerald Bowman).

Hayes Pullard, Lamar Dawson and Anthony Sarao return at linebacker but Scott Starr (neck) remains out and there is the question of whether Jabari Ruffin stays at defensive end or goes back to linebacker. Bailey was an undersized playmaker at linebacker but will be missed there if he plays safety all season.
