The top candidates for the men’s and women’s basketball jobs are playing today, which is significant because as soon as their teams lose, USC can officially pursue them. Pitt coach Jamie Dixon faces Wichita State at 10:40 a.m. (PDT) at TBS.

And Texas Southern coach Cynthia Cooper faces Kansas State in the first round of the WNIT at 5 p.m. (PDT).

Dixon and Cooper are the frontrunners right now no matter how hard Tim Floyd wants the men’s job.

        She was caught paying players among various rules violations and her university (Prairie View) was placed on 3 years NCAA probation.

      Spot on bucket, Dixon plays in the northeast which is hot for basketball and he’s an 8th seed. If he and his wife are dying to come back to LA would be the only reason to leave Pitt. Hey Floyd had it going till the OJ Mayo-naise thing forced him out, hire Floyd back.

    Why are we supposed to be so convinced about Dixon as the best candidate? The guy’s about to lose by double digits in the 1st round with a bad offensive team. His teams seem to always under-perform in the tourney. If anything, Floyd showed he can win at SC and who knows where the program would be today if he hadn’t left and had gotten a chance for continuity recruiting.
